Nice wines I have drunk recently - Red or White

I developed a taste for port early on in life. when at Uni I always took a bottle of port along to parties etc. And it was Para port which even in my last year at uni cost $2 a bottle. About 10 years later became a collectors item. So I drank my way through thousands of dollars of the stuff.

That's what happens if you drink too much Tawny! :) :)
Out for dinner one night and we were going to have a port each - worked out cheaper to buy a bottle between 6 of us. 2 bottles later I was telling a friend we'd just had some pawny tort and it was lovely. They still joke about 20 years later

Another 1967 vintage port. You will have to take my word that it is from Bullers. Second night's glass. I generally finish a bottle over 3 nights and have not had 1 go off.
Totally different wine. Just like the Rutherglen reds. Big and bold but beautiful smoothness.

Was at Sails restaurant in Noosa this week. Extensive wine list and none of it cheap, but saw a 2018 Kay’s Basket Press Merlot at the lower end of the price range. Gave it a shot and was really impressed - complex, light but lingering flavour. Should have ordered another bottle but followed it with a Scotchman’s Hill Shiraz, didn’t compare at all.

I enjoy their Grenache, I bought 6/6 of the Grenache and Shiraz for under $15 a bottle at nearby BWS.

Great wines.

Abbaye Road is the best of the lot from Marc Delienne I think, some of the others can be quite bretty.

Had a great tasting this weekend just gone, including some northern rhone - eye opening.
Tried the Delienne Avalanche de Printemps. The brett was too distracting for me.

How were the Cote Rotie's.
