Hong Kong "Technical Stop"

And unlike the technical stop in SIN, you do not need to remove your stuff from the plane at HKG. (well, apart from your id documentation)
Is that the case in both directions? For both QF29 and QF30? My expectation is that QF30 inbound to Australia will require bags to be removed so they can undergo the gate screening required by Australian authorities for all flights arriving into Australia. Just imagine the serious security breach is someone brought a metal butter knife onto the aircraft in London and left if in the carry-on bag during the HKG transit

Yep both directions, or at least this was still true in Feb. They even remind you to leave all liquids onboard so that they don't get confiscated by airport staff.

For this reason alone I now go on QF29/30 where possible. Or at least until the rumoured removal of FCL on QF29/30 and consequent watering down of Flounge services at MEL for this departure. :(

That's interesting. I have only done the HKG transit on QF29, not QF30.

So when will you be asking Admin to modify your AFF username?

I still have to go on QF9 to get to SIN. ;) I'd much rather do a stopover in and visit Honkers of course but I do have family to visit in SIN, otherwise I wouldn't bother with setting foot in Singabore at all...
