The Velocity Status Run Master thread

Upcoming VA itineraries:

SYD-CBR-SYD (7-9 Jun) Choice - 60 SC ($356, work trip)

CBR-MEL-ADL (23 Jun) Business - 160 SC (~$300)

ADL-MEL-CBR (25 Jun) Business - 160 SC (~$300)

CBR-ADL (26 Jun) QF Award

ADL-MEL-CBR (26 Jun) Business - 160 SC
(~$300)

These CBR-ADL fares are great, and cost +$20 to add MEL to routing. Just have to cram them into June for the extra SCs.

Great find.

Planning my first ever Mini Status Run to maintain a Virgin gifted Velocity Gold. I only fly domestically a few times a year so never really chase status but only need around 210 more SC to hit the 400 mark so was thinking it's probably worth maintaining it with the current bonus offers as I may never have a chance to maintain Status this cheaply again and it may possibly come in handy for status matches etc.

I could just do OOL - MEL return in J to receive 230SC for around $500 booking via the AMEX travel portal - is there anything with a better bang for buck out there? Economy is fine.

Any help from the great minds at AFF would be appreciated.

Got my first status run upcoming. We were going to Tassie so I added in MEL on the return for a nice 160 SC boost
SYD- HBA in Business which will get me 80 SC.
Coming home via MEL which will get me 160 SC for a total of 240. Bringing the wife along so with family pooling I'll get 480 credits all up. Flights were $520 each

Nice one.
I'll more than likely stick to the MEL-OOL via SYD J return. nets 400SC's in normal times, with a DSC offer, which I'll uptake next time VA swing one by.

I don't bring the wife along, she's has to stay home to cook, wash & look after the children!

They have the current 45% bonus which helps. Fly by the end of June. It is DSC in economy and 45% more in Business

yeah great deal the current one, I did take advantage of it previously. I just have enough forward flights to requalify for WP next year so will be looking for DSC offer for flights post Feb 2023.

Any tips on how to get the 3 eligible sectors I need to retain platinum!? I already have the required SC
I am in MEL

I've booked a few CBR-MEL-ADL legs in J to get me over the line for platinum (110SC each). But I'm cutting it fine...
My status expiry says I need to earn 330 points "on or before" 28 Dec... My third leg is on 28th Dec. Will I get there or is there a risk the points won't post in time for the review that day?

instead of the cheapest status credits, I'm trying to find a run with the cheapest sectors.

I've already hit my SC quals, but looking for 4-6 sectors ex SYD or CBR. I looked at Ballina/Byron but that is a full day stuck there and no lounge so once you factor in the cost to go into town for a day, might as well do golden triangle stops.

SC's always post same day in my experience, WP I am too.

Maybe if was late night flight they could post after midnight, if so may need a phone call to velocity.

Even if they posted the next day, the activity date would be based on the departure of the flight. So it shouldn't be an issue.

SYD-MEL-SYD on $79 Choice fares seems logical, if you can fly mid-week when these prices are offered. (Keep in mind that Economy Lite fares don't earn eligible sectors, however VA doesn't sell Economy Lite on routes also operated by Rex.)

SYD-OOL-SYD could also work.

SYD-APW is an interesting route as it's (just) over 2,500 miles.

You can also book BNE-SYD-APW for only slightly more. This itinerary (for example) would earn 390 status credits in J. Price quoted is with the discount code ITX13 applied.
