We were quite early but found some seats to sit down in the air conditiong to cool down with a little walk around the buildings.

We walked into Odette a bit early at 1239, No problems and quickly seated.

We started with a glass of champagne each.

An amusee bouche before the menu arrived. Cheese bread,an onion tart which was sublime and a fish and radish taco.

We had the second,not because it was the cheapest but because we preferred lamb to pigeon even though the pigeon is one of the chefs most renowned dishes.

Pigeon in a basket with chips was one of my favourite dishes as a child. My parents used to take us to a pub that had all sorts of variations on chicken-in-a-basket 😂 🐔

Another interesting museum in that area is the Museum of Asian Civilisation. It was better when it was free, but it's still good.
 
On with the meal.This board carried the actual elements of this course but I was too slow to get it. Dried mushrooms with a mushroom tea bag. But that was just for show. The main element was in this.

At the bottom was creamed potato with peas and Iberico chorizo over which was poured a frothy mushroom consomme. Also server with brioche liberally spread with a mushroom,truffle butter. And this basically is the second Amusee bouche as not in the written menu.

It was delicious.
Then our wine arrived. For mrsdrron a Sancerre. The wines certainly aren't cheap. Cheapest bottle I noticed was $S 150. This was a beautiful wine. A Sav Blanc worthy to be in a cellar.

The first course. Brown crab with avocado and nashi and a coriander jelly cover. Again really good.

Next the bread is delivered with a garlic mint butter. Ate too much bread so I could have the butter!

Then the heirloom beetroot collection with beetroot meringues,sorbet and crumbs. Never knew beetroot could taste so good.

The jelly didn't taste like coriander though. was probably just to give it the slight green colour.

Any way time for my 30000 post. Fittingly in a TR and describing one of the best meals I have ever had. The next dish appears on every menu every day -Rosemary smoked egg. Egg cooked at 63.5C for 55 minutes with Rosemary smoking underneath. A dramatic presentation.

The egg is now placed into the glass with a foam covering several ingredients including Iberico ham,peas,corn and buckwheat.

Advised to break the yolk but not mix all the ingredients together but eat the egg with some of the mixture. It was fantastic. The reason he serves this dish is to honour the Chinese population of Singapore as the Chinese are known for the many ways they serve egg.

next course BBQ Kinki -a Japanese fish with prawn,octopus, razor clam an coquillage -a shellfish related to a scallop. All perfectly cooked.

Next presented with the elements of the main course -lamb and artichoke. Presentation excellent.

So the last of our lunch. lamb rack at top,loin and belly. Artichoke and a lemon sauce with a hint of honey. All worked together. Loved it even though no mint sauce!

Then a shizu leaf sorbet.Excellent.

And at last Dessert. Floating Island with passionfruit and Kaffir lime. Just a little tart.

Then douceurs. Lemongrass popsicles,a bakery item,devilish chocolate and palate cleansing Japanese fruit.

So nearly 4 hours after we walked into the restaurant we stumbled out. You could also have added a cheeses plate before dessert and the selection was really interesting. There would be no way I could have done it justice. Even the young fellow at the next table was obviously struggling after the cheese plate.

Odette on the San Pellegrino lists is Number 1 in Asia and Number 5 in the world. It has 3 Michelin stars. Befitting that status it is expensive. $S1100 for us. Would be $S700 without the alcohol but where would be the fun.
Was it worth it? For us it certainly was The food was excellent,the presentation really good and the service was excellent and friendly. At our stage of life it is all about the quality of our remaining years and this experience was excellent.

I'll have to add Odette to the itinerary next time I'm in Singapore with MrsDaver6.
We only had the one bottle of wine. There is a wine flight but mrsdrron doesn't drink red and dislikes Chardonnay so we always go with a bottle of white. Not always Sav.blanc.
The actual wine list is a book so really not suitable for pics. The Sav Blanc list was a little over 2 pages itself.

Now according to Google maps there is no chuch there. As the road I am on is called St. Andrews parade I assume that is the name of the church.
We then went to the National Gallery taxi stand. We had seen several taxis enter there. When we got there there was one fellow in front of us. A taxi pulled in immediately. In the next 15 minutes only 2 taxis pulled in and both had phone bookings. So we walked up to the main road and stood at another taxi spot. After 5 minutes a taxi pulled up.I walked over and said IC Robertson Quay to which he answered you aren't the one who rang for a taxi? Stupidly I said no so he drove straight off and disappeared up the road. The trip obviously was too short for him to bother. So we hoofed it again.

Breakfast the next morning. I had the Bircher muesli which came in a tiny glass and then the Laksa. Sadly one of the worst laksas I have had.

So the one disappointing feature of our stay.
Soon after in a taxi heading to Terminal 3 at SIN.
 
A quick trip to T3.Only downer is that an old phone of mine for local use obviously slipped out of my pocket in the taxi. An honest fellow who got in touch via our TA and left his number with them which they then told us.He was going to bring it back to the airport but we were already in the lounge. Said drop it off at the Fairmont if you are going past. Don't really mind if I don't get it back.

Checkin was a breeze. Just had to show our Thailand passes. A little walk around the terminal before going to the SKL around 0900. Busy but easy to find seats. Did move from the first lot as some young IT nerds got the seats next to us and talked loudly about their problems and work. The second lot were much more comfortable any way.

No pics of the lounge as I spent my time trying to cabcel award flights in just over a weeks time. I first tried in February. Despite the help of the fellow on the desk putting me through to the right department I got no where with the fellow telling me they no longer cancel flights over the phone. WTF.

Left a little early for the gate. At security a first for me - an agent with common sense. Was telling everyone to take their belt and watches off but when I said I have a knee replacement he said leave them on you are going to be wanded anyway. Wow.

When we got to the seats I obviously dropped my wallet and thought I must have left it at security. Mild panic as it wasn't there. But walking back to the seat I could see it beside my seat but a little back..
A bit of a bun rush when they started boarding so they opened up both lanes for premium pax.So onboard and my seat. An A350-900 but regional seats.

But do you think I could open it. No way and remained like that through the flight. So on 2 out of 2 flights have got a survey so twice I have suggested bring back the menus..
 
So to the meals. I had what was called an Indonesian curry. Was OK.

Once again the service was excellent.
I did watch a doco with Joanna Lumley on the UK. She visited Aston Martin. where they were building 28 replicas of the DB5 first driven by Bond in Goldfinger. In the UK sold for 2.75 million GBP plus tax and you can't drive them on public roads.
There was a fair bit of turbulence as we approached BKK. But just like the BNE-SIN sevice if had left right on time and arived 20 minutes early.

Off the plane in the first few. Came to the Thai pass check .we held out our printed passes and waived through. A long walk to Immigration and to the Fast Track. Only 2 in front of us on our line but 1 was completely disorganised and took some time. We basically were straight through though I as usual had a problem with my thumbprints. many years ago sliced the tip of my right thumb off and put it back held in place by some micropore. Took perfectly but does make that thumbprint unusual and always a problem in Thailand and no where else.

Got to the baggage carousel before the bags came out. Ours was some distance behind the rest of the priority bags.But then straight through customs to pick up our limo to the SGS. Didn't take very long.

I am waiting for 10 days before bookings open up for when we will be there (bookings open 60 days in advance) - I have been tossing up between lunch and dinner - decisions decisions. I am a little worried about being able to manage all that food! We will have a few days at Raffles and a few at the Fullerton so will be interesting to compare.
Enjoying the TR - and wonderful to know o's is in the mix again.
