I remember reading somewhere as a HHonors Gold we could choose one of three options when staying at a Hiton property

  • Complimentary room upgrade
  • Free breakfast
  • 1,000 Bonus HHonors points
Where is this maintained? Is it under "My Profile" and then VIP Hotel Benefits? I do not see a choice but rather one option for each property type.

Select "My Way™" from the Left Hand menu frame after logging on.

Then choose "Select or Edit Your On-Property VIP Benefits".

Benefits vary between hotel groups so choose carefully.

Note that for "Hilton® and Conrad® Hotels & Resorts" the options are:
  • Receive a space-available room upgrade, including breakfast.*
You will be upgraded to an Executive Floor room (where/when available) at time of check-in. If an Executive Floor room is unavailable, you will be upgraded to the next best available room from the room type booked. Upgrades exclude suites, villas and specialty accommodations. At hotels with Executive Floor lounges, if an Executive Floor room upgrade is available, you will also receive access to the lounge. In addition, you will receive complimentary Continental breakfast for you and up to one additional registered hotel guest each day of your stay.
  • Enjoy complimentary high-speed internet access, each day of your stay.
At hotels that already offer a choice of a standard or higher-speed connection, you will receive access to the higher-speed connection at no cost. If a hotel does not offer high-speed internet connectivity, simply choose another option.
  • Earn 1,000 Hilton HHonors® bonus points per stay.
i.e., the Room upgrade and free breakfast are the one option.

I only see 1 option per property type. And the option remains unchecked.

Also at Conrad Jupiters last weekend I was not asked or given anything as a HHonors Gold.

You check the "Hilton/Conrad" box then click the button at the bottom, all will be revealed.

What this tells me is that you have upgrade/breakfast selected.

You should have asked. Some hotels play games, hoping you do not ask. Some staff are simply incompetent!

Conrad Gold Coast doesn't really have a good reputation for treating HH members well. They're more concerned about VIP gambler's than VIP HH members.

I have never selected anything for any of the Hilton property types. Anyway I now have 1,000 bonus points selected as I could care less about room size or breakfast....

I did ask but she said there is nothing available. I had a king room on the 5th floor and I ended up with a double room on the 12th floor. I would not call that an upgrade in anyones language....

I hate when they want to do something silly like that.... like the QF hostie that offered a woman who had a row 41 window seat a row 44 middle seat ! claiming there was more room, they upgrade thats not an upgrade... she naturally choose to stay in row 41.
I would have done with the hotel, take the level 5 king thanks very much :)

It the very least you should have had complimentary continental breakfast - unless that was included in your room rate in wich case another amenity should have been offerred.

Don't knock the comp breakfast, some juice/coffee, cerial croissant/toast etc goes a long way to a nice start to the day (even if mid morning).

...and if you have a late, heavy breakfast, you can skip lunch, and then have "dinner" in the lounge if you have access and the lounge has sufficient food...great way of keeping meal expenses down whilst away!!

What i usually do on a weekend when i was staying at the IC in SIN. Late 11+ breakfast :) cause i used to like a sleep in, then just get dinner.

I was offered absolutely nothing which was a little disappointing. It is also the reason why I created this thread as I was not too sure of the benefits as HHonors Gold. I am now going to ask for 1,000 HHonors bonus points for the stay as well as the 3,000 QFF points with the current promotion.

I know but I am not a breakfast person. I keep booking rooms with full American breakfast in Thailand and not bother with breakfast most of the time.

JohnK, please post how you get on with receiving both the 1,000 bonus points under the HHonors promotion and the 3,000 QFF points under that promotion. I'm concerned that the fine print in the Qantas offer (ie. 'cannot be combined with any other promotion') may mean you can't have both. However, I am optimistic because HHonors allows the double-dip and this is essentially what it is (at least that's what I'm claiming).

I still have not received credit for my stay at Conrad Jupiters on 24 April 2009 and I have not received my 20% HPC discount either.

You check the "Hilton/Conrad" box then click the button at the bottom, all will be revealed.
And now as a HHonors Silver I cannot choose "Select or Edit Your On-Property VIP Benefits".

I think I changed it to 1,000 HHonors bonus points as my VIP hotel benefit.

That would have been most easily sorted out by you on check-out. Now it's going to be a pain for you.

(Of course, this hotel has only recently joined the HPC program).

I would not have left the hotel until it was finalised correctly.

(I have had the clerk recalculate incidentals many time - even the hotel rate (which I try to sort out at check-in)).

I thought I had easily sorted it out when I checked-in and provided them with a letter outlining my HPC membership and how the stay is eligible for 20% off. I was told that I was going to be credited the 20% off on my credit card. Now 3 weeks later and still no stay credit or refund.

If the 20% credit was processed as urgently as they took pre-payment for the room then there would not be any issues.

I would not have left the Hotel without the Credit being done.

(Knowing this might be an issue, I would allow additional time for check-out).

Did they not give you a final bill?

Too late now.

I was already waiting in the queue for ~15 minutes to check out. I just wanted to get out of there.

Did they not give you a final bill?
No bill and no tax invoice as I did not need one. Just the reservation confirmation and the charge to Amex.

I have sent feedback to HPC and I have now faxed the reservation confirmation to HPC Marketing as requested and HPC is now on the case.

I have been using HPC (nee HDC) for four years. I have come across all the issues as posted and I now have certain rules to follow. These are based on experience (I have learnt the hard way):
  • If a pre-paid rate and they charge the full amount on booking, always ensure your bill is finalised before departure.
  • With HPC eligible stays, always check the statement on check-out for mis charged items and get them sorted there and then before checking out.
  • Never check out of a hotel without final documentation, you never know what you may need it for.
  • Repeat, always check out! (Don't use express check-out)
  • Repeat, always get final documentation!

Yes they are helpful hints to remember.

I have already received email back from HPC marketing that they have forwarded documentation to Conrad so I can receive credit of 20% off pre-paid rate. It is only $36.10 but it is still a significant amount to pursue....

  • Repeat, always check out! (Don't use express check-out)

Checking out from a certain Australian Hilton last year, the desk clerk insisted on applying the HPC discount to my $99 stay that I had upgraded to a junior suite. For once there had been nothing wrong with the indicative account slipped under the door, but it was certainly worth the manual checkout.

Richard.
