Woolworths gift card thread

Yahoo! Thanks for the head's up! Mine landed too :)
Funnily enough, I got a targeted email for:

Pocket 1400 points when you spend $200 or more on WISH Gift Cards online.
Promotion runs from 00:01 AEST 25/04/22 to 23:59 AEST 08/05/22.

Similar to the one from a couple of months ago, but without any tiered offer.

I got that email too. Not as good as the 5% discount using NSW Seniors (and others) in my opinion.

Curious to know what makes you say that? I calculate it to be a 6.3% discount (based on $0.018 price per QFF).

Not sure how you calculated that; you may have to expand on the details of your calculations for me.

The way I looked at it was that purchasing a $200 WISH card at a 5% discount costs $190; so a saving of $10 (equivalent to 2,000 points). With this offer, a spend of $200 only gets 1,400 points (equivalent to $7).

Of course, I'm sure there are a number of other ways to look at it.

My calculations are 1400 points = 700 QFF x $0.0018 = $12.60 = 6.3% of $200.

(I also can't get 5% off Wish cards, and I'd prefer the points to cash, so for my personal situation it works. I appreciation knowing your calculations though - helps when working things out in other situtations.)

I prefer the points as well but looking at the cash equivalent helped my thinking.

I personally don't value QF points at 1.8c when buying though appreciate others might

I was using the Points Hack valuation as a point of reference. What do you value yours at?
My circumstances are that I would not pay full price for a self-funded leisure business airfare.
As a result, the value to me is not simply revenue fare/points required

An example:
SYD-LHR J return $8000 revenue v 288000+$1k taxes on the face of it gives a value of 2.4c

However I could only really justify spending say $4000 on that trip or I'd fly Y (it's the how much money would you leave your J seat for). The points are then on the face of it only worth 1.1c

On top of that award seats don't earn status credits/points and are difficult to find on the date you want (though are good for one-ways and easily cancellable). Points can also be devalued at the company's whim

The truth for my personal value is it's somewhere between the two-but in general I'd only consider speculatively buying QF points under 1.3c

I'd also say that points have massively improved my travel experience since I discovered them in 40s

Anybody found any of the $200 perfect gift cards. I tried Pacific Fair Gold Coast and zero on rack Also virtually no other Perfect cards either. No POS to promote either. Had a friend check around Coomera and much the same result there. We both checked the nearest Woolies to see if any in there thinking we might take a few to Big W to scan but none there either.
