Qantas Business Class meals & menus

Yeah, was disappointing, my first (and only, most likely) time in QF F, (Classic Award)
I only have SQ suites to 'compare' it to, lol, not a contest.
Thanks! I'm flying QF1 F to London in June, not expecting that much good but wanted to experience it once! Classic Reward too.

Was there any pink in the beef fillet at all? Always a risk of getting a well done steak when ordering beef on planes...

I can confirm Qantas First serves up said well done steaks - tough as leather.

Yes. Typical. It's one of the worst particularly for an F menu. Obviously all the attendants are "if it's mooing, I ain't chewin'" types. Had an argument with one fellow on F to LHR and he said for "health reasons" they are told to microwave the beef for 15 minutes. Strange other airlines manage to serve nicely medium rare tasty steaks and very few people have died toi my knowledge after eating them.

Overcooked, and a poor cut as well.
Had the sea bass in the way back. (QF hadn’t loaded any F menus for the QF12 return, so no pics). Hostess had to try deliver the dishes from memory to each passenger, and choose immediately. Rather have a menu to peruse and consider. A few things in the F flights that indicated the return of the “full first class experience” much trumpeted, is not quite there yet…

QF F is hit and miss at the best of times. I’m at the point where I’d rather fly J because my expectations are more likely to be met rather than feeling disappointed. Tough as old boots ‘Neil Perry’ lamb rump, lead footed FAs tramping heavily through the cabin when people are trying to sleep, turning the bed back into a chair without asking 3.5 hours before landing because I made the mistake of getting up to go to the toilet - none of it is what I expect from F.

They're better off not putting beef fillet on the menu, especially given people will see Neil Perry and assume they're getting something which is at least the closest a plane can get to Rockpool.

Anyway thanks for the heads up!

QF12, LAX-SYD F meals. No menus loaded, so no menu pics (and no detail on each dish other than the main ingredient!)
Canapés, Chicken, Sea Bass, Choc Mousse cake, bacon and scrambled eggs. (Poached eggs on menu deemed a “mistake” when requested.
Robbie Williams onboard in F, slept through all dining…not sure if he was already aware of the quality, or if the delayed 1am local departure time tired him out…5C4D8CE5-EDDB-432B-9B59-F22B53DB597C.jpeg1F121C03-CF99-4C59-A0F7-AB26D3AF55C8.jpeg0649CB17-B2B1-44E7-A143-315B75ED2B6E.jpegF52F9A78-014F-4B6E-BA04-EC6FDA0C124E.jpeg6AE30CA8-EF9F-41D5-96AA-11E8851D11C1.jpeg

Looks positvely ghastly! Robbie obviously had been warned. :)

QF549 tonight BNE-SYD at 6:10pm

Roast Chicken option (other option was prosciutto and grain salad). No PDB. Bread was warm, not straight out of the fridge though, which I'm not used to.

Also noted that the hot food counter at the J lounge wasn't open when I was there (4~5:50pm), only the buffet next to it. Not sure if that's normal.

IMO QF F is not about the catering, which is basically Business+ (a little tiny bit). It's all about the bedding and the suite imo.

SQ catering blows QF away every single time. there's just no contest.. and of course the beds (specially suites) are something else... but I digress :)

at least there WAS catering :D

QF82 SIN-SYD 16APR22

Dinner menu

The 'salad' and bakery was served about 20 minutes before the main. Given the 2100 departure (2300 at destination) Qantas skips the starter course which usually comes on this tray. A few lettuce leaves and a slice of bread doesn't feel substantial enough to serve on its own, why not serve it all with the main? Most pax just want to eat and go to sleep.

Mustard glazed pork with dill potatoes, onion cream and baby beans - was surprised to get a substantial, succulent bone-in cut. The beans were undercooked but otherwise this was a great main and I'd order it again.

Coconut pannacotta with pineapple, mango and calamansi - also an excellent dish, lots of citrus tang for a pannacotta but it worked. Feeling that SIN catering has a pretty big leg up on SYD/BNE international.

Neil's B&E roll. Bacon was warmed but egg was cold.

Wines served were the same Haselgrove Switch GSM 2017 & Voyager Chardonnay as my flight to SIN, plus a Vickery Riesling.

Side note for anyone on an ex-SIN QF flight - use the EK lounge! I started off at the QF lounge which filled up fairly quickly. so after taking a shower I went for a walk to the Plaza Premium lounge just to see what that was like, but noticed the EK lounge directly next to it. Staff were across the Qantas entry entitlement and very welcoming. I had the entire lounge to myself for just over an hour, staff were proactively topping up the Moet and offering several Singaporean dishes for a la carte dining. Stunning views of the runway and apron too. The lounge opens at 5pm which aligns perfectly with the 8:30/8:45/9:00pm departures to BNE/MEL/SYD.
