Last chance redemption [before dynamic pricing]

Reportedly the last day before Bonvoy switches to Dynamic Pricing for hotel redemptions.


I personally don't think the 'enhancement' is going to be particularly bad but just in case, I just booked our 2023 holiday hotel in Langkawi for next year.


It will be interesting to see what redemptions will cost as the months go by. I may even get an opportunity to cancel and book again at a lower price…

full switch won't happen until this time 2023. So there's stil a bit of time. But the post-covid travel boom is just going to dry the free/points availability fast.

Dynamic pricing seems to be in effect now. My hotel booked on points seems to have increased.

I think they said something like approx 97% of hotels are not affected this year. I booked fiji momi bay last week for the same category rates. Also checked Maldives and Vietnam for the same dates before booking Fiji and category rate was still available.

Very interesting.

5 nights in St Regis stay in Langkawi next year has gone up 40,000pts for the dates I have booked.

2 nights in JW Marriot Singapore has gone down by 6,000 pts. Cancelled and rebooked

So far for me, it's a mixed bag. Of 24 forward bookings some haven't changed and some are +/- 3k to 5k per stay. Biggest movers for me were Westin Maui (+280k per stay), Wailea Beach (+92k), RC Waikiki (-59.5k), Sheraton GC (-16k and -19k) and RC Perth (+27k). Needless to say, I have rebooked those properties with substantial decreases and am very grateful to have locked in those that have been Bonvoyed.

sounds like it's a bit of a free for all for the hotels to set their own rate within a range. I checked my forward bookings again and they've gone up a bit over this week So I suppose the earlier you grab an offpeak date the best return on your point you'll get in the future?

Just a day too late! Wish we had that earlier conversation a day earlier. I’d have just booked in with my remaining points. All the best redemptions around top hotels in EU, Asia have gone up the most!

Small win for me. I have a hotel reward booked for Feb next year in Paris. Have had the booking for a few months but decided last night to see what the going rate was now.

A measly 1000pts cheaper but very easy to lock in new rate and cancel old giving me 1000 pts back.

Other bookings have gone up about 10k per night
