Flight record cancellation

I discovered after the event that I was not eligible for frequent flyer points for the ticket I had. But I had provided my frequent flyer number and it was recorded. Now they are saying they can't remove the flights from my record....even though another ff provider has offered to give me credit for them if they do remove them...any advice?
