I find it frustrating how slow points from QF Hotels bookings take to post, when flight points for the same trip post before landing and uber airport trips within a day.

Seems odd to me they cant post within a day of check-out, shouldnt be that hard to confirm stay occurred given the stays are paid for upfront.

I only book via QF hotels when there are decent bonus points on offer and pricing is no more expensive than booking direct with the property with same inclusions. During the pandemic it has also been easy to get a credit/refund on the accomodation (irrespetive of the booking conditions) when QF have cancelled a flight

Last year points always posted exactly 1 month from the checkin date.

Im wanting points from my recent stay (10 points per dollar) asap, as this restores my points club and means I will get SCs on some upcoming rewards flights.

Anyone think if they dont post in time, Id have a case for the SCs after the fact given the qualifying stay earning the points was before the flight and tardy QF points processing only reason not auto-applied?

re slow posting of hotel points vs QF flight points - there is a key difference

with QF flights it is their system. They manage check ins and they know when you have boarded a flight, which is often why points and SC post before the flight you are on has landed.

With the hotels operated by third parties they have no direct access to those systems and thus have no way to instantly know if/when you stayed, checked out etc.

Much like hotel chain own loyalty programs can take a bit of time to register for some properties, you probably have an extra process to do the accounting between a paid booking by QF hotels and the reconciliation from the hotel that yes the guest stayed per the booking, paid X etc. That would not be a process that happens on day of check out.

I suspect you have a combination of batch processes going on here.

- hotel itself accounting of stays
- reporting back to booking agency (in this case QF hotels)
- QF hotels then reporting that back to QFF in terms of posting points etc

and result is you probably are seeing delays in alignment of a bunch of backend processing to make sure they all come through

so yes frustrating but not too surprising that it takes so long tbh.

I would think your PC would be recognised once the points post for appropriate earn within your membership year.

A positive update for this:

The hotel points from my December stay finally posted today, giving me points club once again.

And without asking because it was clear the stay was before subsequent flights, I have now also been given the SCs for my January classic reward flights and the bonus points club hotel points for both my December and January hotel stays :)

So if anyone was stressing about earned points nots posting on time, never fear they will be treated as if they posted on the day of the activity for accessing whether points club benefits accrue.

Good to know that the Qantas hotel points accrual date seems to be the service date. Especially as this not covered in the QFF T&Cs accrual date definition (see below(, neither the qantas hotel t&cs.

'Accrual Date' means in relation to Qantas Points earned for a product or service provided by:

(a) Qantas airline, the date that Qantas provided those products and services to the Member;
(b) the Rewards Store or Qantas Wine, the date that payment for the product or service is made to Qantas;
(c) a Qantas Shopping Retail Partner, the date that the goods or services were purchased from that partner;
(d) an Airline Partner, the date that the relevant Airline Partner advises Qantas of the Member's Qantas Points accrual; and
(e) a Non-airline Partner (including products or services provided to Members under the Qantas brand, other than Qantas Shopping Retail Partners) the date that the relevant partner advises Qantas of your Qantas Points accrual;

Good update and pleasant to hear an example of the QF IT systems actually working great, and that it has been set up to properly credit SC's and even bonus hotel points for backdated points earn without needing to call! I would not have expected that.

It may be the case that the hotel advised Qantas much earlier than they chose to process the points. Looks to me like December hotels stays post on Feb 1.

Yes it was a very pleasant surprise, the work experience kids got something right.

Another positive experience - I had recently made a fully refundable booking through QF Hotels using a voucher and a few days later there was a better room/deal (with double points) at the same hotel on QF Hotels for $6 more. But I couldn't change/cancel without losing the value of the voucher itself so it wouldn't be worthwhile. Instead I requested QF Hotels to rebook at the new room rate (same if booked directly with the hotel) and was expecting them to screw it up but so far so good. Now for the double points posting promptly after my stay...
