What benefits would you like with Velocity?

i think being able to redeem reward seats with partner airlines.

i've yet to read about anyone being able to get a reward seat, and it even seems there are few any seats rewards available too.

This would be my number one request also, it's probably the only thing stopping me signing up as a DJ lounge member.

Living on the Gold Coast, DJ is a natural choice for flights, but as long as I have no access to a priority line as a lounge member, i'll keep making the journey up the M1 to BNE where I can access priority lines and tags with QF.

TG

+1 for priority everything ;)

Also I think the lounge is really overpriced, I know it would work for some people who only frequent the cities that the Lounge is present in, but for me - get about quite a bit, it should be based on how many lounges it offers (therefore I suggest cutting the fee in half!!) if you bench it against QF, without even starting on international....

As a frequent domestic traveller - mostly between Australian capitals, I don use DJ a lot - around 70-80 flights with them last year, and 10 or so with QF.

I fly Economy, tend to chose the back so I get on/off quicker.

I am Gold so have the benefits they offer. If DJ are not prepared to give a food on board to a gold traveller (similar to PE), how about making sure I can get my preferred snack on board.

I like to get my ceaser wrap and a scotch, but because I sit down the back one or the other seems to always run out before they get to me. I understand the flights of around an hour things are aften rushed, but if they had a list of who is Gold on the flight they could offer first crack at the cart??

From memory DJ have 2 carts in operation, one from the front and one from the back, on the SYD-BNE flights. Am I imagining it? I will check when I fly DJ again Easter Monday SYD-BNE....

Almost right, John K - one cart starts at the front (in Premium) and the other starts in the middle (row 16 or thereabouts) and works its way to the back.

Cheers

MR Somerset is correct - they start at the front, then in the centre. QF on a 737 wil start at the front of Y, and thee other cart from the back of Y and meet in the middle somewhere.

This is a change DJ should look at making - QF seem to get through the service a lot quicker. I often see the DJ crew that start at the front catching up with those that started in the middle, and then they are fumbling around trying to work out whether one should continue or help out. Often one cart will vanish slowing down service (and a chance to sell something)

Isnt the main reason why DJ takes much longer to serve food to customers is because they have to process all the payments for the food that they serve. They also need to heat up a selection of hot foods when they are ordered on the flights. From memory, on a typical qantas domestic flight, they simply walk down the isle and hand people their choice of food, but it has been a while since i last flew qantas domestic.

QF also take cash for wine etc on certain flights

While they do, I have never seen anyone pull out a credit card to process when paying for wine on QF. If change is needed and they don't have it on hand, they note it down and bring it back later. It is not a process that is time consuming, wheras the Virgin Blue way, from what I have seen, seems to hold things up more.

Maybe a way to improve this would be to hand out a menu card during safety briefing for people to order so they can have 1 person in the galley organising the hot food and the others processing the rest more efficiently....

And you think people would then pay attention to the safety briefing?

The way to overcome this unfortunate flaw in his plan would be to get a young hip rap-artist to perform the safety briefing in a contemporary-sung style with audience participation providing the beat.... oh wait a second, this has already been done......

I did not think it was possible to pay for beer and wine on a domestic QF flight with a credit card.

Whilst I understand your point about the QF service being a little more efficient in paying for beer and wine at the same time in my experience there are very few people who actually purchase beer and wine on the shorter flights SYD-MEL or SYD-BNE.

Pretty poor show if they don't accept a Qantas American Express Ultimate or Qantas Platinum card :p

Probably not, and thus you don't get the delays of that.

I have often seen people pull out a fifty for a bottle of wine. Or on my last flight there seemed to be a number of pre-mix bundies being sold (strange I thought that spirits had been taken off, but there you go)

Neat trick that gives you a decent chance at getting the beer/wine for free.

Was this a flight to/from PER? From memory someone posted that they include some spirits on the flights from the East Coast to PER. I have not seen, or heard, spirits available on flights on the SYD-MEL-BNE triangle for at least a couple of years.

I thought with DJ they just swiped the card and the receipt came out - not as time consumning as taking cash???

IME it has always been quick to use cc on board - I think the process would be quicker if one started the cart at the back and the other at the front.

Back ON topic - Do we really think any more changes will be made to the program?

Swipe card,get signature etc.

On a per transaction basis it seems slower to me, but then I haven't sat there with a stop watch. Not to mention there are way less transactions on QF.
