As Per Exec Traveller

Qantas app will soon include upgrade alerts within hours of a flight

Thoughts ? Comments?

Would this only be an option once all waitlisted upgrades are cleared?
Not sure how many upgrades this will clear - I guess will give people the opportunity to snag an upgrade who have missed the min 24 hour window to register for an upgrade or are ticketing a flight for within 24 hours of travel and then don't have lounge access to register on departure upgrade.

This is simply in-lieu of staff doing upgrades in the lounge, it will be self-serve.

There generally aren't any waitlisted upgrades by the time you get to the airport for domestic flights.

I wasn't sure where to ask this....

Is there a way to tell before I book a cash Y fare to see my points upgrade probability likelihood on a QF domestic flight? Like avails in a certain J class bucket or similar?

Anyone know (or is there a better thread to ask?)

If you are doing a points upgrade at the time of booking, it will automatically go through if there is classic reward seats available.
If not it's a waitlist.

If done at the airport, then it's usually to do with how many seats remaining.

Thank you - helpful.

If there is availability in the business ‘U’ fare bucket, it should clear right away after requested, so long as the flight is also ticketed.

As suggested, you can check this in advance by looking at what classic Business awards are available; or you could also ask in the Flight Availability and Upgrades thread, here: Flight Availability/Loadings & Upgrade Probability Help Desk

Cheers,
Matt.

I don’t suppose you know roughly when they start processing (approving / declining) domestic points upgrades?
