LAX INT-INT Transit

Hi All,

I have a AY -> QF transit booked at LAX. Obviously the usual protocols apply with respect to immigration/bag claim/customs/bag drop/TSA. Has anyone done this lately and can they enlighten with respect to any additional steps to check PCR results/ATD? I'm expecting that these are all checked prior to departure from the initial port and - as such *shouldn't* need to be checked again at LAX ... but these are strange times and LAX is a strange transit point!!

I have friends who did D>I at LAX coming back to Australia and there were Australian consulate officials at LAX the gate checking paperwork (including ATDs) on boarding.

You also can't expect AY to be complying with Australian entry or Qantas specific requirements, so almost guaranteed there will be additional checks at LAX for you.

Qantas specific, I agree, but SQ certainly enforced both UK and Australian entry requirements (and Australian exit requirements) at the start of each journey when I flew them earlier this year. Thanks for the details about checks on boarding - makes me less worried about time being consumed gate-to-gate.

I guess the difference is SQ flies to those countries. AY doesn’t fly to Australia.

It’s like asking Qantas to be up to speed with the Finish requirements.

True - and I guess I'll find out whether that's the case as I'm transiting in SIN from QF to AY!
