NSW case numbers holding steady with 7 days average under 250/day despite virtually no restrictions and open international borders, testing numbers remain high, hospitalisations and ICU continue to decline:
Or, given the numbers were previously 'skyrocketing', then 'going through the roof' would actually be a sharp fall.Hmmm, if this is cases "going through the roof" (to quote an unnamed forum member) - it must be a very low ceiling

So it was that person of a couple of weeks ago. She came back from Mel via Adelaide for a night but they seem to think she wasn’t infectious whilst in SA. I just hope the community she infected all are ok.More on the source of NT cases, a Queenslander who flew to Adelaide then drive to Melbourne (where they caught Covid) and back without declaring that before flying back to CNS and then onto NT.
Illegal border hopper from Cairns seeded NT COVID-19 emergency
A Cairns woman accused of illegally crossing state borders and who was “f---ing livid” when wrongly termed a sex worker has been confirmed case zero in the first outbreak to reach the remote Northern Territory.www.smh.com.au
Probably means some undetected virus circulating in cairns area too.
Question (rhetorical?!): how are children under 12 considered similar to fully vaccinated non-household close contacts???NSW set to follow VIC which is good news moving to a new phase in how the virus spread is managed. I cannot even contemplate how QLD is going to manage all this…

Close contact changes, streamlining school closures under urgent review in NSW
The NSW government will reassess the need for close contacts of COVID-19 cases to isolate when senior ministers meet next week, with Premier Dominic Perrottet signalling the state will reconsider school closures and strict isolation rules for students.
It is expected the state will shortly adopt the same model as Victoria where fully vaccinated non-household close contacts will no longer need to isolate for seven days, and instead only need to quarantine until receiving a negative PCR test result. It is anticipated this will extend to school children aged under 12.

In SA children under 12 are considered non vaccinated in the case of being a close contact. They need to isolate for 14 days. The parents, if not a close contact (eg exposure at child care) just have to be tested and then they are free unless child tests positive. But the question is, who is going to look after the child if they return to work.....so in reality it won't make a difference to them.Question (rhetorical?!): how are children under 12 considered similar to fully vaccinated non-household close contacts???
As indicated a couple of weeks ago, there was at least 1 example/instance where a childcare setting with one case was closed for deep clean and then reopened and then another case emerged and closed again for deep clean and reopened a second time with then a third case being identified before closing the childcare for a week.
I've basically spent two weeks quarantined as Miss TomCat was a primary close contact via childcare. I could come and go, but can't leave a two year old home alone. Fortunately the new changes mean this won't happen again. In SA children under 12 are considered non vaccinated in the case of being a close contact. They need to isolate for 14 days. In some instances, I think NSW Health regards the fully vaxxed parent of a child that young who is the close contact as a quasi-close contact - ie needing to not enter high risk areas (eg aged care, hospital, school, childcare)I've basically spent two weeks quarantined as Miss TomCat was a primary close contact via childcare. I was thinking of you when I posted. Son and DIL are off to UK pre Christmas and with two year old in child care it must concern them that the childcare has a case. I'm not sure whether it will stress them out more if I suggest Iook after him the 2 weeks prior to departure.I've basically spent two weeks quarantined as Miss TomCat was a primary close contact via childcare. It isn't funny because it has become significant in the indigenous community and there is a lot of family mingling despite the restrictions. Hopefully all recover well.Is anyone actually watching this anymore?
Briefly turned ABC radio on today and thought Darwin had been bombed again. Turns out the chief minister was just choking up because they’d had literally 11 “cases” (I assume he meant positive test results).
I used to say it would be funny if it wasn’t so serious. I think now it’s just funny.
