Advice on champagne

Any thoughts or experiences on Lanson Le vintage?
DM has the 2009 for $70 member price, normally $90 or $85.50 in a six.
At current rates, it is priced to be on par with a NV from a big house.

Never had it, but Lansons in general do like a bit of age. If within the budget, I'd shell out a bit more for their flagship blanc de blanc (sold vintage 02). This is something spectacular.

Thanks, I've had the Noble Cuvee 2002 (non BDB) on JL and that was great.

When I search the one you quoted, it's $220. The normal Noble Cuvee is $190, delivery only.

Which store/settings are you looking at?

Thanks! I saw the Extra Age was #21 on the top 100 list. Haven't tried it before.

today after 30%/$30 Cashrewards @ BoozeBud:
  • Laurent Perrier 2008 Millesime Brut $84.99 - $31.99 price match refund ($83 @ Bits & Pieces) = $53

Isn't Bits & Pieces 2007 vintage? They may not price match.

I'm confused, it's $115 + $6.89 - $30 - $30 = $61.8 of matched.

It's the same for Champagne Lanson Extra Age Brut which you need to hit $150 spend for discount + free shipping. $72 a bottle.

Yeah I was confused by those calculations as well, I didn't see any specials on Laurent Perrier 2008 so went with Lanson Extra Age (black friday 30% off) and thought I'd try a Lombard NV (black friday 20% off). After 30%/$30 at Cashrewards it took the final price down to $103.29 delivered.

Shame about the Laurent Perrier 08 as I'd been keen to try that one, I couldn't use cashrewards25 as I've ordered from there before. Oh well $179 + shipping down to $103 shipped, I'm happy.

Wondering if it's worth waiting to see if CR is going to have any cashback for Dan Murphys for the Black Friday / Cyber Monday sales.
Clearly I haven't bought from DM in ages - there are no cashback offers on both CR and Shopback.

Anyone want to have a guess? Or is it likely if no announcement has been made by now, it's safe to say there won't be any on Friday?
I checked Ozbargain too - no announcement yet.

I have at least a few cases to buy, so even the slightest bit of saving will add up!

Veuve La Grand Dame 2004 at $200. Deal? Found at BWS on clearance.

Yes and no. Firstly, excellent wine. Drinking well now.

Pricing I suppose is good. Looking back at my purchase history I picked up a bottle in late 2014 for $175 and another two bottles in Aug 2019 for $151 via various BWS discounts/cashbacks.

I feel like champagne (and fine wine in general) prices pre vs post-covid are almost incomparable as there's been a bit of a paradigm shift. Was inventorying my cellar the other day and the average increase is about 20% across the board, with some +40-80%.

Lockdown = all that money has to go somewhere = luxury goods, of which fine wine is one. Just look at watches...and then of course there's the seemingly new normal of CB offers being nowhere as good as they used to be (eg 20-30% CB, uncapped)

So when I think about the prices I used to get for these bottles...I'll be sorely disappointed if that's my benchmark as it's unlikely I'd come across that kind of pricing again. Heck, even one of my wine fridges has gone up by about $500 in the last 3 years!

I very much agree with this. The price of top level champagne has gone up significantly.
