The COVID-19 vaccine rollout in Australia has begun

Marshall slipped 95% into the press release Monday and I think he was referencing 12+ because that's our target for open international borders @ 90%. Sigh. He keeps changing the goal posts. And I see covid live is also reporting this in the Days to Go charts.
I think I posted something similar Here a couple of weeks back in another thread. It would not surprise me if Marshall and the other 2 wise monkeys change their minds to 95% including 5+ age group. I have given up on trying to keep up with the DPRSA rules.

We're waiting to see how things go in the US atm and will probably start doing kids aged 5-11 next year.

2.6M american kids aged 5-11s have already had at least one jab, data will be plentiful.

I really doubt it and hope you are wrong.
Opening next Tuesday despite us not getting to 80% and I think we are a certainty to open up before Christmas regardless of our rate

Is is incredibly busy but at least it is an attempt to provide guidance to reduce quarantine-time while reducing risk of taking down whole areas of critical workforce from an outbreak. Probably still overcautious but much better than a straight 14 days off

Agree but they've issued a very similar one for small business where they are asked to submit a spreadsheet to SA Health taking into account a matrix of 30 factors

I get SA is opening the boarders but it is some of the fine print that frustrates me around the home quarantine for 7 days. From the SA Covid - Covid ready plan "from 23 Nov - Open borders to fully vaccinated people from all Australian states and territories* the fine print *Quarantine will apply to LGAs with community transmission and less than 80% of the population fully vaccinated. I plan to go to NSW at Christmas and have looked up the NSW LGA information and where I will be staying is not an issue. It is getting there and back which may be problematic. I will most likely need to head into central station to catch a regional train, this will put me in the Sydney LGA which is currently sitting at 73% fully vaccinated. If the rate does not pick up there is a possibility I could be put in quarantine and there is no detail about travelling through LGA's that are less than 80%.

I''d say forget the train. SA Health have admitted this morning that their LGA denominator is wrong and will be corrected by Tuesday. More an issue is how quickly people can come over because you cannot submit for a Border crossing until midnight of the opening day or it will be refused. Regardless of the date you want to travel.

I'm surprised that Sydney still have an LGA at 73% double juiced, considering their 91.5% double overall.

Must be an oddity or more so an odd bunch, you'd think another month or so till your travels they'll climb to 80%.

Does SA health post what they think the LGA rates are, I found the 73% detail from the covid live web site. As for the boarding crossing permit requirement, IIRC the process was much the same as around this time last year. I was applying within the designated window, knocked back a couple of times and was becoming frustrated and confused. It was not until I called the covid line that I was informed I could not apply until SA had officially opened. It should not be that hard to include such detail on the the website or configure the approval process to enable permits to be approved for a date that is post opening.

It isnt (would actually be over 90%) , its being calculated using a incorrect denominator that grossly overstates the population of Sydney LGA.

Anyone actually living there knows the population is much much lower, the student accommodation in that LGA for University of Sydney, UTS, Notre Dame, ACU, International English colleges and largest TAFE are mostly empty without international students. The high rises around China Town and in the CBD are largely foreign owned and very people living in them. Younger people usually renting in the LGA who works in hospitality venues that were shut moved out further to the suburbs where things were open and there was work.

Are they doing anything about fixing this. Post 23 Nov it seems like SA will require people to home quarantine if they have been to an LGA that is not at least 80% fully vaccinated.

SA have been given the adjusted data - only Byron Bay is now under 80% double vaxed, although my research shows the regional area of Edward River is the worst performing LGA in the state at under 70% double vaxed.

Many have been calling for the review for ages, the 2016 census population data is very out of date, its why ACT shows over 100% fully vacicnated because its population figure is too low.

As posted on the other thread:

Travellers from central Sydney and Melbourne will be allowed into South Australia when borders open on Tuesday, but travellers from local government areas with vaccination rates lower than 90 per cent will be prevented from attending high-risk settings like aged care and major events, like the Adelaide Ashes test.

The SA Premier Steven Marshall says fully vaccinated travellers from every Victorian and New South Wales local government area will be permitted to travel, except for Byron Bay, which is yet to hit a vaccination rate of 80 per cent.

Those travelling from New South Wales, Victoria and the ACT will be required to have a COVID test in the 72 hours prior to arrival in SA, and must undergo a daily symptom check for 14 days via a phone app.

Those who travel from a local government area with a vaccination rate of less than 90 per cent will also have to undergo tests within 24 hours of arrival in SA, and again on days 6 and 13.

Goal posts moved, if the place you are visiting in NSW ins below 90% (not too many of those) you will have to undergo 3 tests and daily surveillance phone calls on your return to SA.

Manly NSW is not doing too badly but I'm sure is underestimated due to an absence of backpackers and other short-term visa holders

The 3 LGAs previously mentioned by NSW gov as being most effected by the outdated population data were Sydney LGA, Randwick LGA and Inner West LGA - these are most impacted by the lack of students, foreign workers and temporary residents.

But yes there will be errors in other LGAs too.

This happened in Sydney/NSW too.
They pushed back access to hospitality etc for the unvaccinated to Dec 15th.
I actually don’t mind this.
There has been more than ample time given nationwide for every 12-18yr old to be fully vaccinated.
My daughters’ school sent out an email with the new details and offered a refund to those students and parents who are no longer eligible to attend. The graduation is at a Function Centre off site.

The wailing on Dom P’s Facebook posts from the unvaccinated in NSW is loud though about the changes.

Can unvaccinated people in Sydney still go to pubs clubs and restaurants at Xmas time though? I had a weird conversation with a hardcore anti vaxxer patient saying they are going to Sydney because they will be ‘more welcome’ and I was actually confused I thought they were not allowed to go to public places?

From the 15th December they can, unless it gets pushed back again.
Was originally 1st December.

From 15th Dec there is no state rule excluding unvaccinated from all hospitality venues, however individual businesses can still exclude unvaccinated. Many clubs have already stated unvaccinated will continue to be excluded.
