Did anyone else see that AirNZ are now offering free membership of their FF scheme if you transfer Amex points across and sign up using a certain promo code?

(Not really important in this thread, but still thought it was interesting).

Yep, I mentioned it here. Air NZ Airpoints only seems to be good for domestic bookings or upgrades on Air NZ.

Who really cares, all of you folk that can't help themselves knocking an Aussie airline, and want DJ, Virgin, Air NZ to do well, when you lose your job, bad luck, who will also care??

FWIW The above is also an Aussie airline, actually more Australian-owned than Qantas, I believe (although that might have changed after Toll's giveaway.)

So yeah, I want them to do well too.

Back OT, I signed up for the free QFF membership a week ago. Thing is, I don't have any credit card points, nay, any credit cards at all, and if I did, I wouldn't fix them to Qantas.

So will I still be a QFF member come April 1? I'll keep you posted :p

As per the T&C's, I would expect not.

Obviously, 2 words, "who cares" are too many for some to understand, having just got off a UA flight, I really struggle to understand why people want to continually undermine a Company with a majority Aussie ownership, when it is one of the few successful global airlines, then, whinge when jobs go offshore, as they say, "go figure", or something like that!!

Virgin Blue Holdings Limited
  • Virgin Blue — an Australian-based airline operating in the South Pacific , not Australlian owned!!

Wikipedia not withstanding...

V Australia: About the Virgin Blue Group said:
Included in the group is Australian domestic airline ‘Virgin Blue Airlines’, international subsidiary ‘Pacific Blue Airlines’ operating trans-Tasman short haul Pacific and domestic New Zealand services, ‘Polynesian Blue Airlines’, our joint venture airline with the Government of Samoa and of course, ‘V Australia Airlines’, Australia’s newest international airline set to operate trans-Pacific flights from the east coast of Australia to the west coast of the United States of America.

The airlines provide domestic air services throughout Australia and New Zealand and international services to Australia, New Zealand, Vanuatu, the Cook Islands, Fiji, Tonga, Samoa and the United States of America (Melbourne - Los Angeles direct flights are subject to regulatory approval).

Together the airlines employ approximately 5000 team members and operate a fleet of 63 aircraft including the Boeing NG 737-700 and NG737-800 series jet and the Brazilian manufactured executive-style Embraer E-170 and E-190 jet. V Australia Airlines will operate a fleet of Boeing 777-300ER aircraft.

Virgin Blue is listed on the Australian Stock Exchange (VBA) and is majority Australian owned.

I'm not putting Qantas down, in my limited experience with them they've been great. However I think that some of their loyal FF's have the right to be sceptical when change such as this is forced upon them.

So in answer to your repeated question, 'who cares?', they do.

So would I, but it's worth a shot nonetheless.
