Australian Reports of the Virus Spread

That's my Sunday taken care of!

Well hopefully you do not become a fleeting transmission case. On the plus side at least we know that you are one of the good guys who scans the QR Code ;)

From the exposure site updates tonight there looks to a case/s in Balaclava/Caufield North as well as in Malvern.

Plus the unexpected wastewater detection in Carlton was identified within a public housing estate. Residents of this estate have been directly contacted and are being supported to get tested on site by CoHealth. So it seems quite likely that will have a case or more too.

Editorial in SMH today

But isn't this exactly what happens everywhere? Majority of people follow the rules but because of a few, restrictions tighten further? It's never been a case of reward for 'good behaviour' but stop the spread. Until we all get vaccinated. I don't see some NSW people may think they are different to everyone else.

Vic 25 cases today
Yup, I think we're stuck like this.

Just tried to get a test at Albert Park drive through...3 hour wait and already suspended before open at 8am.

There's a local pathology site but as the nearby Coles has generated several days of exposures last night it understandably also has a huge queue.

I think the Chant issues might have started a little while back when reporters asked questions about her pay, in that Brad and Dominic who wanted her pay cut. Was very awkward when that was asked. You could sense the tension among the ministers and Chant.

Now if that was me I’d be out of there too.
I thought that it might also revolve around the question from about taking pfizer from areas on the Central Coast for schoolkids. If as it was argued at the time the Health team under Dr Chant took that decision, I imagine it would have been felt as a huge slur against them.

The Belmont hub that lost them is the Newcastle vaccination hub. Central coast is being delivered through Gosford and Wyong hospitals. Belmont is in the Lake Macquarie LGA which Is part of Greater Newcastle.

The was also the question giving Gladys a hard time because Bunnings was open and in Brisbane it was closed. It was not closed in Brisbane, the question was unsound.

Can you not make one hour appointment slots for Covid testing yet?

Forget just testing, all these people should be shoved up the nose and brain tickled per normal then as they exit in jab them in the arm and kick them out the door :)

If everyone halved their obsession about testing and case numbers and channelled that energy into jabbing any human with an arm we’d be sipping sangria in Barcelona right now!

227 Bourke St (between Russell and Swanston) usually has short wait times, especially early mornings at the weekend.
Worth a try.

I'll put it out there....could NSW, in partic. Sydney, be the first state /city in Oz that cannot eliminate the virus , forcing us to "live" with the virus (hinted at by the NSW Health minister when asked a Q by a journalist at today's press conference)?

Our modeling suggests this is a very strong possibility now.

Of course, we have models saying just about anything… but Sydney is now in a worse position than at the early stages for Taiwan and South Korea recently (in terms of infection numbers, not outcomes).

The above was July 7-8.

Our modeling now looks roughly the same for Melbourne, although that's partly because we also have the Sydney situation as an input (i.e. the same numbers now have worse implications).

Lockdown exit timing is becoming increasingly difficult. We estimate that Melbourne would have to stay locked down (at current policy settings) through October 3 to get back to zero, and that would then only last for a few weeks at most anyway.

Our best AI models all have the weather (or latitude) as an input, with higher temperatures implying greater Delta spread. Which makes Queensland look like a minor miracle so far, and is a little worrying for the Sydney and (especially) Melbourne situations.

What does your modelling say about when Delta is likely to make incursions into QLD and SA from NSW? (Forgetting VIC because it’s already done)

Close their borders to Sydney and NSW indefinitely? or til the end of the year when the majority should be vaccinated?
I really wish I was proven completely wrong!
