Yeah I have been thinking the same thing...AP has been doing that a lot. It was Alpha that took the UK up to 1500+ deaths per day and now we think its cute and cuddly!

the Feds brought in a completely new team of 'strangers' then expected the old dears to sign up when they didn't know the people doing the asking.

I know first hand what a huge issue this can be.

With my brother due to his continuing decline we had to during this pandemic unfortunately move him from his own unit where carers came in for limited periods each day, to being in a 24/7 facility.

The issue that he most struggled with, and still struggles with, in this transition was the large number of staff that he suddenly had to deal with and that also that, there were not the same people each day. That the staff were in this period always masked just made it all the worse.

Being constantly approached by "strangers" was/is a confusing and fearful experience for him. They were all friendly staff, but to my brother it was traumatic and especially when his more personal needs like showering were being attended to.

His quality of life is now much better, and he much happier, now that we have managed to arrange to have two carers that he previously knew, and trusts, come in each day from 11am-2pm on rotation over the 7 day week who take care of his daily needs as well as assisting him with lunch and most importantly provide that basic human need of being with someone you know. Hugs from someone you know work wonders.

I said usually family (not always), sometimes its a solicitor or friend who has power of attorney or state trustee. Regardless of who makes the decision, once made they need to accept risk they will be more vulnerable than their fellow residents who did get vaccinated.

I dont know why you want to argue about what was good news which was that those who got vaccinated and tested positive are asymptomatic, should be celebrating that news.

Way too much focus on the minority who havent availed themselves of vaccination that they are eligible for, which is contributing to unbalanced risk assessment, and a way too slow roadmap for fully vaccinated people not being locked down domestically.

I am really happy for you living in a perfect world.

I think also a lot of people assume Alpha is the OG Covid.

Well, the GP practice I’m referring to, who knew the residents, predicted it prior and it sure came to pass. No hindsight there!

What part of this thread did you think was calm and rational?

The numbers are always up to 8pm. I think there's nothing wrong with making a post like that with just the facts (number of cases).

Sounds like there is a ‘mysterious’ event that occurred.... and now has cases associated with it that they are going to announce later....

I think people are just over lockdowns.

In reality the only one who has has any issue with any of the vaccinations has been you with not wanting the AZ vaccination

Im hardly the only person who has concerns with AZ and the issues with that vaccine were real enough for ATAGI to change advice for its use so some experts also feel its not the best choice for the bulk of our population.

Without that hysteria I have no doubt that the percentage vaccinated would be higher.

Disagree, vax rates would be higher if roll-out started with state run mass vaccination centres from the start and if there was a clear benefits publicised (like freedom of movement) over above just the health outcomes.

I think given how rare cases associated with a flight had been in the past and especially relatively short ones such as this, that so many cases on one flight now is significant news.

Nah I realize the world is imperfect which is why I can be pragmatic and accept some risk to the vulnerable (who are at risk form more than just Covid), its those who refuse to accept the imperfect who want to keep us isolated and inflict mental health injuries to provide a false sense of security to a miniscule minority.

There may be problems but there is also not enough people being proactive, too many waiting for others to come to them.

Three people have tested positive following a gathering at Meriton Suites in Waterloo on June 26 with an investigation now underway.

Contact tracers are still trying to find out exactly how many people were at the party.

The one advantage the contract tracers will have is that serviced apartments usually have security cameras in common areas and lift wells so they will hopefully be able to cross check information provided with video footage, something not available fort a private home.

When there have been break-ins or property damage in my complex we are always able to provide video footage to the cops.

Hope criminal charges are levied at the attendees.

You fail to understand that there are many factors at play. If you improve all of them you will get a higher vaccination rate.

If is not hysteria over AZ vs say freedom of movement. They are not mutually exclusive.

No AZ hysteria plus better carrots would gain a higher vaccination rate.

Multiple distribution channels gain a higher vaccination rate.

Improved supply would achieve a higher vaccination rate. Having said that we have ample supplies of one vaccine not being used that we could be using. AZ hysteria is one of the reasons why it is not in more arms.
