VA a LCC?

OMG... just completed a survey about Scoot and it's put VA into the LCC category!

It’s sort of stuck between LCC and what Virgin was prior to admin I think. They have taken away the snacks, and wifi isn’t there yet. So they have gone backwards.

They kept saying they look at JetBlue as inspiration. JetBlue has free snacks, Seatback IFE, Legroom, Free wifi, New aircraft, and a decent website.

Virgin has none of that.

I debate the new aircraft. A significant proportion of the new VA aircraft are Boeing Sky Interior aircraft which are the latest models if you discount the MAX. Some of QFs 737s are now 20 years old.

Do LCCs operate a ‘catered‘ business class & sort of run their own lounges? Aren’t VA are a bit of a frankenstein stitched together hybrid; LCC when it suits and a semi sort of full service model for business class at others?

Sounds very much like a North American or European legacy carrier !

I honestly never noticed any difference between LCC DJ and VA. Both constantly cancelled flights and lost my bags.

If by LCC they mean enforcing Priority boarding, Pre departure bubbly, a decent enough meal and being plied with spirits the whole journey whilst having the great unwashed roped of from having contact with you then I can live with that

And QF don't do two of those (PDB and blocking off J) and priority boarding is very hit & miss with them too.

VA in its current incarnation is pretty much following the domestic services of the US3 (AA/DL/UA) or EU3 (IAG, AF/KL, LH Group), which is largely LCC down the back (Y) and full service up the front (J - or 'Domestic F' in the US)

I was thinking the same - sounds like EI or BD (as was). If the bulk of their current model is shorthaul along the east coast then they wouldn't be expected to have some of the features of medium to long haul - let's see what happens when we are allowed to travel overseas again. LCC is about low headline fares and being charged extra to breathe while herded around like cattle and being penalised for breaking pointless rules, just to show us what good value we are getting.

Dont the 3 rows behind business have legroom, and the exit rows. and the normal rows are better than Jetstar for legroom? And they have free wifi IFE, dont they. Why is seatback considered somehow better?
I don't know about the snacks down the back, but the meals in the rows 1 and 2 are free... and have legroom.
