Hi all, we are off to OOL for a week on Friday and i have been thinking its time for a new suit - anyone out there have any idea of where to get a decent suit there?

Btw, im not thinking Man To Man, Roger David etc...

Go to Marina Mirage ,opposite the Sheraton and next door to Versace ( just 5 kms North of Surfers paradise )and you will find 2 great stores, John Forsyth on the ground floor and an Italian designer suit store upstairs...Be aware that the centre is in the midst of renovations but I am sure you will find exactly what you are looking for...Good luck and let us know how you go...Cheers

I know where that is - I tried to buy a wallet from there but couldn't find what I wanted. Will have a look...

The only decent suits you can get on the GC are all white. ;) :)

Seriously, I think it's very strange to even consider the gold coast as a place to buy a suit.

Those members of the silver hair and white suits have changed attire for the casual look of designer shorts and polos shirts so not many white suits anymore BUT seriously you can get a great stylish labelled suit on the coast if you just happen to be there and strangely when one is relaxed its amazing what bargains you can find...Enjoy the sunshine:-|

I know its a wierd place to buy one but as we are there and on holiday i thought why not. Its either there or BNE.

As for budget - it depends on how much i like it. I dunno, 1, 2k? And were staying at Circle on Cavill.

I have some friends who will pick you up in a black limo, get you a suit and then drop you off for 2k :!:

For 2k, you're in good quality semi-fused territory so I'd probably just go to Myer or DJ's because of the range. The Anthony Squires range is generally considered to be good value. Bottom-end Boss, Zegna, etc might also appeal if you're into labels but these will be fully fused. A $700 fully fused Pierre Cardin will look just as good as these and last longer due to lower thread count. Consider the use/frequency when selecting material. Nowt worse than a shiny suit.

Fully canvassed suits will cost around $3k and up. I do not know of any recommended tailors on the GC but that doesn't mean they don't exist.
