Ok so we still have trips to UK for late Nov 2021. Just curious if anyone has started to book hotels ,just in case they actually go ?
We will base ourselves near St Pancras as usual for the two or so weeks we are away. Just pondering watching for deals to book ....or not

Somewhere like Premier Inn (which has been updating and renovating over the last few years) often has good rates at Kings Cross. They have rates slightly more expensive which are fully refundable. You can get refundable rooms for around £60 a night (average over 7 nights... weekends cheaper, mid-week more expensive). Those are sample dates 3-10 May. Rates are cheapest somewhere between two-four months in advance. Booking now for November the prices are triple that, but will come down closer to the date.

After 2 failed attempts to get to NZ and back I am having another go for Dec/Jan QF/EK combination lets see if these one stick.

Or maybe Europe mid 2022? I'm thinking in and out of Poland June/July 2022. You never know................................

Hold your horses, this is still the '2021 Travel Plans' ;) when @LadyC starts the '2022 Travel Pans' we can start posting our hopes and dreams in that thread :p. Mine are off to a flying start but will they happen who knows.

Shouldn't we be starting the 2031 Travel Plans thread about now? 🧐😜
Retirement Christmas 2035, just after last child finishes High School. Plan a cruise on the QM2 Fremantle to Southampton early 2036 as retirement present to wife & myself.

Should be vaccinated by then, and hopefully borders open. It does leave from WA though.................

Happy! :D

I've snared a spot on a 10-day 4WD tag-along to Rudall River/Karlamilyi NP in July:

I'm going with the same outfit as my Canning Stock Route tag-along in 2017 (Way into the WA wilderness).

There was ongoing dithering about issuance of permits for the CSR which they were intending to do this year, so they decided to pull the pin on that and flick to Rudall River. PERfect for me, having already done the CSR, and because Rudall River is somewhere I've been wanting to go. Email came out at 1700h; all places snared by the time they opened the office the next morning. I'm guessing it will like the CSR trip: 9 tags + 1 leader.

It is not the sort of place to go to solo. Have to be fully self-contained for the duration of the trip Newman-Rudall River NP-Marble Bar-[Newman]. Need to carry enough fuel for about 1100 clicks.

The year is filling up. PJM, my brother & SIL and I had already locked in a (non-camping) trip to Karajini NP-Coral Bay-Shark Bay in August. So I'll get back from Rudall River and a couple of weeks later turn around and head back that way.

Happy days. :D:D

I have basically given up on Singapore in August but waiting until the last days of June to pull the pin as then I can change my SQ award bookings for free and be able to do 1 more change before end Feb 2022.
So our only trip is the Indian Pacific Sydney to Perth arriving Christmas Day with the grandkids.

And maybe our paths will cross again, but the situation is so fluid anything could happen!

We've taken advantage of the current cheap flights to Perth and are now coming over for a 'longer' weekend in early October. We already had a shorter long weekend to Palm Cove booked for that weekend. Moved that to six days over NY with three at Port first then three at Palm Cove. Points upgrade confirmed for return but quite a bit more for the new flights.

Perth is four nights. Car booked for three days. Points upgrade confirmed for return for that too. @JohnM if you're around we'd love to catch up for a wine or two or...

I expect to be around until 26 October, when I head to BME.

Will do that about 7 days ahead, so early next week. 👮‍♂️
and be prepared to wait outside for 40 minutes while they are processing you
Wooly hat, gloves, arctic-level coat all good to go! Brrr 🥶🥶🥶

What I am really looking forward to is the HBA QF lounge when we fly back home 😁 😁 😁
