Well I spoke too soon. That Dr.JY is now saying we have to isolate as per the WA restrictions .All arrivals from PER since 17/4
Fortunately did our shopping yesterday and had no plans going out this long weekend.

Just ridiculous. Unless you are within the cases second ring or were at one of the at risk locations at the wrong you should not be quarantining.

I would prefer to hear from those in the Perth area, or others who are affected by this.

Edited

I had planned heading down to Dunsborough, although that won't be happening now. Going through cancelling stuff this evening.

Was booked some time ago to get something akin to reasonable prices....

Update: New interstate acquired case

WA Health recently reported transmission between two rooms at a Hotel Quarantine facility in Perth.

As a result of this known transmission, WA Health determined other residents on the floor of that hotel as primary close contacts.

This morning, the Victorian Department of Health received notification of a positive COVID-19 result in a recently identified primary close contact from the Hotel Quarantine facility.

That individual travelled from Perth to Melbourne on Wednesday 21 April.

On arrival at the airport, he was immediately advised by Western Australian health authorities of his status as a Primary Close Contact.

He returned directly to his home in Melbourne’s eastern suburbs.

He was tested yesterday, returning the positive result this morning.

Out of caution, and before the positive test result was known, he was moved into hotel quarantine in Melbourne at his request, where he remains.

Four household and social contacts are associated with this case – the individual’s spouse, his two children, and a friend of one child.

All have been tested.

The Department will continue to manage the public health actions associated with this case and will continue to monitor the situation in Western Australia.

Update: NSW close contacts

Victorian health authorities have identified six people as close contacts linked to a current NSW investigation into a possible COVID-19 transmission at a Sydney CBD hotel quarantine hotel.

All have tested negative and are in quarantine.

He’s just 30, already had his first AZ shot almost 2 months ago and is now on holidays (remember that?) in Uzbekistan.
Amusing that you think that vax rollout is linked to how much of a joke a country is. Yes it's poor we have a slow rollout however it is quite simple they don't have the stock and yes it was an oversight not ordering more but calling it a joke is a bit far-fetched.

Here in QLD, I was able to go on holiday on a plane last June and have since been to every state/territory (except Victoria) with a trip to NZ next week. Aside from on planes and one of Brisbane's snap lockdowns, I haven't had to wear a mask at all and since about August last year, it's mainly been business as usual.

Uzbekistan on the other hand still has compulsory mask-wearing, limited capacity, and just recorded 384 new cases yesterday with an unknown number of tests completed.

I don't think that @Seat0B was really referring to the vaccine situation as the joke. More so our tolerance of risk and behaviour when a case is found in the community. That was my impression from the post.

Re: vaccines, I am a realistic person. I don't think it could have been wound up a lot faster. I do lament the constant talking down of the AZ vaccine. Even having just turned 30 so very much on the wrong side of the risk/reward calculation, I would still have it tomorrow if it means I could live my life freely without any travel restrictions.

You clearly don't have any relatives/friends who live overseas.

I’m so sick of seemingly xenophobic, uneducated and stupid attitude by certain groups of Australians.

The vast majority of my family is outside of Australia. I own a business that functions outside of this country. I assure you, I have far more international knowledge than you do. The fact that you can honestly justify the damage this idiotic “lockdown” will do by saying such things like “we could be America” proves how out of control things have become here.

It’s great this “lockdown” has zero impact on you. How about you think about someone other than yourself?

The problem is it's not certain groups of Australians, it's the majority. WA just had an election, if people were upset with the handling of the pandemic, lockdowns (both initial lockdown and subsequent handling), and quarantining overseas arrivals then the result would have looked very different. QLD had an election that was similar and it seems like Tasmania will be the same next week.

Oh please... It's true we could have been like America (or anywhere in the world). You could argue all you want but the lockdowns have worked at reducing cases and anyone who says otherwise is living under a rock. At one point Melbourne was recording the same number of cases as the UK and we all know how that ended up.

Yes, this latest lockdown does have zero impact on me because I don't live in WA. I wish them well and hope they can trace quickly. I get it's been tough (especially for Victoria) and I certainly feel sorry for anyone who has to go through a lockdown however there is a reason why Australians have been able to live a relatively normal life over the past 6+ months.

So stupidity and xenophobia win. Great. This isn’t Ebola. It’s a very mild virus that has been used as political spin. If you can’t see that, it’s not worth engaging with you.

That is insane.

That should only happen if you were caught in the 2nd ring via contact tracing or at a place where the two WA cases were.

Oh wait WA doesn’t contact trace very well, and the QLD CHO is still being put through the ringer for their very sloppy handling of HQ in QLD, and forgetting to vaccinate front line health workers - so very sorry, home prison for you!

Personally I think all they need to be doing is the two ring method.

Honestly from my dealings with them, WA Health could barely count to two, let alone execute a two ring contact tracing plan.

I’m not sure if it is lack of resource, or lack of competence or both but they are quite simply a hot mess. Either way it rests with their state government to fix.

Clearly the invisible CHO and the Premier also agree with this assessment as every time something happens which all other states could probably manage (apart from QLD) they collapse in a heap.

I don’t understand why they don’t outsource and let VIC or NSW do their contact tracing and execute the 2nd ring method for them? Surely it wouldn’t be that hard?

You are almost a zero percent chance to have contracted COVID-19 in the WA community. But hey go in to hotel quarantine, you'll be looked after (but not in the way you think...)

Got a couple of mates from Perth who are in the queue at RMH for testing. About 200 there already. They said about 1500 have come over to the ANZAC Day football so far from Perth and they are hoping test results come back today or in the morning so they can still attend the game tomorrow.

The issue is that for a number of people the virus is severe. The vaccines will fix that, but we're not at that point in the roll-out yet.

FFS it is NOT "a very mild virus". Are you blind? Parts of Europe going into a 4th wave, the US still a basket case though the situation is improving there, India with no room in hospitals or even oxygen to help treat the sick. 300K cases per day there, with only limited testing available. Brazilians being buried 24/7 in mass graves stacked on top of one another! Not to mention the economic chaos in those countries that did not bring the virus under control last year.

If you think it's so mild, consider if you would be happy to get on a plane and go work in a hospital in India. I'm sure they would appreciate the assistance.

And the comparison with Ebola is as ridiculous as gun lobbyists saying "why don't we ban all knives as well". You need body fluid contact to catch Ebola.
