Hi everyone,

I am a gold card holder for Qantas but I am in a fix:confused:. Me, my wife and our 3 month old daughter plan to visit New Delhi in April. Looking for tickets, I find Singapore Airline the cheapest of the lot for the days that we are flying in and out. My plan was to book my wife and daughter on Qantas economy and then upgrade (to business) them using my points. But the ticket price difference between Qantas Economy and Singapore Air economy is more than $600!!. Is there anyway that I can book in Singapore Airlines and get a business class upgrade for my wife and Daughter?

Not really any way to use your QF Status or miles. From the sounds of it, you will be booking one of the cheaper fares on SQ.

If you had Krisflyer miles, then you could upgrade:

Redeem Miles

For upgrades :
Only Economy Class tickets purchased on Singapore Airlines in S, Y, B or E booking classes or Y, B, E booking classes on SilkAir, are eligible for redemption of upgrades from Economy to Business.

Redemption of upgrades must be confirmed at least 24 hours before flight departure.

As you can see only the top 4 economy booking classes are eligible.

Alternatively if you are flying SQ with a B or Y booking class (i.e. very expensive economy) then you could use some other points from another Star Alliance member.

Upgrades with QF points is a far from certain and not available on the cheapest tickets

Hi again

unfortunately, I do not have Krisflyer membership. I might try and book through the Singapore Airlines office and see, if they put in a comment for the upgrade.;)

I am not very hopeful of it, but will let you guys know, if this works.
