i have just realised that it is schoolies here in SA this weekend and while the official even was cancelled, several private activities were planned down at Victor. This puts the kybosh on that. Convenient timing I wonder given only 2 cases today.

I just realised who's to blame for all this Pushka!

Not the SA Premier nor CMO.

It is you!

You started this....

I think the schoolies and that 5 schools were closed was part of the reasons given for lockdown

Well at least it isnt still March. But zoom forward 9 freakin months and it is back to where it all began.

Speaking of the Oz:

Scott Morrison has endorsed South Australia’s hard six-day lockdown, saying the “precautionary and temporary measures with a clear end date” will keep the state safe

The ABC reporting same.

You know, you really could get a bit more variety in your media diet, beyond Sky and News, who you seem to mention in every second post ( a case of obsessive fixation or compulsive viewing?) That said, I’m sure Rup is thankful for your custom and support of his business .😂
There goes Scomo, ripping into it!

Slapping the Liberal SA Premier on the back for hard shutdown & showing leadership whilst criticising the Qld Premier for moving two days earlier.

At least they've taken point #1 of AFF recommendations - introducing mandatory weekly testing for all quarantine facilities' workers. Now if they could just extend that to all airport, wharf, airline (flying) staff - we will be happy! ;)

Well maybe not happy but satisifed for a day or two....

I find it extraordinary that the SA Premier can impose a lockdown beginning at midnight, and in the same breath, tell people not to panic buy. If you're shutting down takeaway, obviously people need to go to the supermarket to feed themselves.

Or you go with the new 6-Day SA Wonder Diet. No Eating, No Exercising, and just watch those kilos fly away ;)

PS: No eating also means no need to fight for those last few dunny rolls either!

Of course. While supermarkets will still be open, it's the unknown that bothers people. And the thought of being questioned because you were on the road simply trying to get groceries etc.

Not just the thread. Pushka is almost certainly to blame for the outbreak, with this post

Invoking Murphy's Law is never wise 🤣
You know, at the time I was thinking exactly that but thought, with Victoria doing so well, and we without community transmission for months, and the other states likewise, well, serves me right. I never ever thought this could be allowed to happen and never thought our lockdown would be worse in many ways than it has ever been before.

I think everyone is a bit surprised about no exercise (is that true?) and takeaways closed, that seems quite harsh, hopefully it will be short and sharp and life can resume to some semblance of normal very quickly, although I expect masks might be there to stay for a while. Best wishes from the rest of us on AFF, although it is still fairly small imposts compared to what many are facing Europe, USA etc, at the moment.

Yes, it's true. Basically 24 hour lockdown except for medical treatment, dental treatment, one person a day shopping, chemists, and vets. Everything else is closed. No regional travel. No exercise. No takeaway. No weddings. No funerals. At all.

They keep emphasizing we are already in the fifth generation of this virus and the Pizza Place at Woodville seems to be the major focus with 10 days of exposure and much of that unknown. It has only a 3 day infection cycle. Fortunately no one really ill and the only hospitalisation is an 80 year old and they are only there as a precaution. She had mild symptoms only. Maybe it's highly virulent but maybe not as deadly?

We had a zoom time with our son who has been in UK for a month now. He has more freedoms than we do but for a longer time.

Assuming this means they werent using QR codes or having dinners manually sign-in? They shoudl at least have records of a;ll phone orders for pick-up or delivery.

I'm very supportive of a lock-down with a clear and defined time period. Six days to clear the air and assess the situation. Six days may be uncomfortable but in the scheme of things it's just Christmas a bit early!
I'm wondering what happens next? Apparently the new strain is quicker and slicker so symptoms aren't too obvious. Six days locked down; any carriers have definitely spread it to those around them. Little pockets of contagion awaiting release. It seems to me that the pressure is really on the contact tracing system to track down and test every possible contact.
On the upside, a quick acting virus is a lot better than one that slowly incubates. Much easier to contact trace 24 hours!

I agree but have mentioned here before as recently as a couple of weeks ago that only once have I seen the QR code in use in SA and I did scan that this week when I shopped at Woolworths this week. So many businesses just haven't implemented this practice and if they have, it is not enforced. Of course there should be some kind of record of deliveries but likely not pick ups.

The SA CHO was just on TV on The Project saying it is actually 14 days - 6 days super strict (no movement), then another 8 days with lesser restrictions - although they have yet to say what changes on day 7.

Interestingly when PVO asked her why there was no policy to prevent security guard from medi-hotel having a second job in food preparation, she dodged the question. PVO then called out that was a key learning from Vic, again a general comment about hindsight - but is it hindsight when the need to stop preople working between hotels and other sites or multiple aged care facilities was highlighted back in July?

The SA CHO mentioned using credit card information to contact trace...

I still would like to know what kind of legislative authority they are using to enforce that no one leave their homes - for ANY reason - other than essential workers?! Bizarre to not allow people out for exercise. Totally lost the plot in this country, even in the UK now with the numbers they have - exercise, fine - with one person from one other household if you wish - with mask on.

Our politicians have absolutely gone around the cough*ing bend. Does no one stop and think "hey, do you think outside of our bubble of well paid, guaranteed income jobs we could easily do from home these rules are reasonable & easy enough to follow?"

Or..."hey you know those empty shelves we had in March...maybe we shouldn't stoke panic by declaring the whole state be closed down?"

It's ridiculous.
