Card Promotions ANZ Frequent Flyer Platinum: 75,000 QFF points. $0 fee.

Did it go away?

Whilst Ozbargain may be reporting this as a new deal, this appears to be the same deal that we have been discussing in this thread for months.

I think it technically went away, but the link from the old deal still worked.

No. If you checked the previous URL there was never an expiry date indicated.

In any case, I contacted ANZ when I signed up to ensure that the deal was active and would be honoured.

Looking to get a new card. Not sure if i should get this one or pay the extra $275 for ANZ Frequent Flyer Black .
keeping the card for 8-10months to be used where Amex is not accepted.
Will also need to get a supplementary card.

Free points are very rare, but you will have a lower points earning rate with this card.

I'm churning mine as soon as the points drop.

Yeah i know its rare. But then i think about it, $275 for an extra 25,000 is not bad right? + the higher earning rate..

I would churn as well but might need my credit score higher.

By itself $275 for 25,000 points is a very bad deal.

But the extra earn rate for 8 to 10 months of using the card IF you do use the card is probably worth it.

Something else to think about is for this card the lowest limit is $6000. But for the black card it's $15000. This could be important to your credit rating and/or if you plan to hold more than 1 card simultaneously.

And I'm sure you've thought about it, but when/how exactly do you plan to spend those points?

Getting a toaster of course. :)

Haven't thought about it really. Just need a new card because I don't want to pay annual fee on the old card and not get bonus points.

Just wondering if i could ask some advice about this deal and ANZ rewards cards in general. I have recently refinanced to ANZ and have the breakfree package which allows me to take up an eligible credit card and to not pay an annual fee. I haven't taken this offer up yet.

I was considering taking this offer for the free points, what i'm unsure of is

- should i take this card and then cancel it once i have the points
- should i keep the card and then add it to my breakfree package and then using it as my main rewards card
- should i look at a different anz rewards card which offers more points per dollar spent
- same other option i'm not thinking of?

I would say that this card (platinum) is probably not a good use of your breakfree package due to the card being no annual fee ATM anyway. If it is eligible for the package then you might want to consider the Qantas black.

You could churn this/black card if you want to, then in 12 months time turn again for free. But in the banks where I have the equivalent of the breakfree package I generally tend to keep a Credit card with a $1000 limit on that package simply as a backup incase I end up in a situation without any credit cards.

Is it just me or have they made applying for them harder. Never had issues before but now they are asking for my whole life story on paper.

I think there are two options
1. Take this card, earn 75k points at no cost, then add to your breakfree package and upgrade to the black card. Now you have a no annual fee black card (which is arguably one of the better QFF Visa cards on the market).

2. Take the black card, earn 120k points at $275 (or whatever the effective annual fee is), then add to your breakfree package.

Either way, if the breakfree packages makes the card free then you should have the best card you can, which in this case is the Black.

I'm wondering also whether i should just churn the card every 12 months, as the bonus points are likely more than i would earn in a year of normal usage and with the package it's basically a free churn with no fees

Are you sure? I recall another postered mentioned somewhere that you're not eligible for sign up bonus if you get it free via. the package. You can however pay the annual fee for the first year, collect the SUB, then add it to the package afterwards.

Maybe I remember incorrectly, but it may be worth checking with ANZ.

I will check again, but when i called i was very specific about it and was told i would still receive the bonus points on the package

Turns out the first person i spoke to gave me the wrong information :D package or bonus points

Applied 13/07 - Approved 17/07
Card received a week after, minimum spend requirement achieved in 1 day.
Got 75 000 points posted with my second statement (this month) + 30.000 from Qantas for my first QF card that are already posted into my QF account.
105 000 points for free - good card I must say ;)

I'm quite annoyed at ANZ and this offer. I applied for this 5th August and 21days later still no approval. I have held the ANZ Black card previously + the adventure card (all approved online with no issues) and i also bank with them for my business account.
Running this promotion, they should know a lot of people will apply for the card but guess what, the whole credit card checking department is not reachable over the phone. The only communication available is via email and they aren't so good at this too with slow replies taking a week before replying.
I also got my girlfriend to apply for this card online but she got rejected straight away even though nothing has changed with her financials from 12months ago where she also previously held 2 ANZ cards, this one and an Adventure card.
I told her to send her payslips through email to ask them to review but they never got back to her.
Anyone getting the same issues? Did ANZ change their credit credentials?
I never had an issue getting approvals before and now ANZ is asking me for a total of 7 previous payslips even though the website site says "only send payslips within the last 60days ". 7 pay slips will be 3.5 months worth.

@Ktan89 I got approved, finally and it was a pain Not sure what the guy who assessed my application is smoking, it can't be legal for sure. He called me every end of the week to request docs I would send after the week end. Three times in total. Doc requests didnt make any sense to me. My application is a no brainer, got approved everywhere no worries, but this guy....

The assessment team is suposedly busy and don't take phone calls. If they keep asking non sense supporting docs, I am not surprised.

I should precise I applied for the black qantas, I guess it's the same team that assess all cc applications.
