I actually am at the limit on one of my cards so starting using another. Would be interested to hear if the actual credit comes through.
 
The IT team at AMEX have done a good job in getting the emails generated - the last few used as restaurant pick-ups arrived faster than the sub 10 minute drive home.

Has anyone spotted a better listing of the Shop Small merchants than appeared early in this blog?

Not sure if you've tried it out but...

As you click on an icon/image on the map zooms in somewhat. You can zoom right in to a street detailed level and see every business listed.

If a shopping centre there will be several icons within it - if you hover/click on each icon it will show a dialogue box containing all the business names.

Many more involved this year than last year in our area.

COULD be due to what I discovered from one small business last weekend. AMEX have dropped their fees to (certain?) small businesses to BELOW what MasterCard & Visa charges. At one place they have surcharges for Visa/MC but AMEX has no surcharge. In their case AMEX fees were cut by close to 2%.

Worthwhile mentioning to any small businesses that you like that aren't allowing AMEX - did not sound like a region specific change.
 
Icalled up a about 2 weeks ago and told them of hte missing ones on my account,
they said they would investigtae and call back, never got the call

but I got the credits x 2, just a few days ago

so I was owed 3, they gave me 6 credits, minor win!

however im struggling to use all my credits this time around, due to covid, $10 spend , and some of the shops their prices have gone out of the roof (eg butchers)

I used to stock up on spirits at the local bottle shop when it used to be $20 spend,
but at $10 spend, a $50 bottle of spirits = 5 x cards per bottle,

a little too time consuming and embarassing to use 5 cards for one bottle, plus the stares I used to get
 
I only have done about 8 transactions out of a possible 100...too much effort and risk when Im trying to social distance!

Can be used for meal pickups from local restaurants (annual sampling...).

The ones we frequent have no problem splitting the bill 2 or 3 way....

Also a good time to replenish 'Cold & Flu' etc supplies from non-chain chemists.

Thankfully my indepednent online chemist is on the list so I've stocked up heaps of prescription meds ,
 
wow, that was a bit nasty today,
was at my local lotto agent,
sign says, credit card surcharge $0.50 under $10,

made bought two items, $10 and $15

asked if I could use two cards, and he replied "nah, I can't, its not worth it for only $10 on amex"

obviously I wont be going back there again

You can let Amex know and get the credit .
 
I was chatting to chat today about a credit not received and asked whether it will be happening in nov as per usual

" As of now the offer is until 31 August 2020 only. Amex usually launch Shop Small every year during November month so this should be available in November. Whenever we will have an update, we will update the information online. "

so looks like it might be happening in 3 months again

Disclaimer: I wouldnt put too much faith in what a overseas based chat service says
