Australian Reports of the Virus Spread

I suspect that Pushka was referring to activities where social distancing isn't really an option...

Yes, but that got say that one person infected, and is if it occurred.

But assuming it did, the carpooling and lack of general physical distancing is what then got all the other workers infected and turned a case (and possibly a small cluster) into an outbreak.

Well instead of WA for the Silos and spring orchids it will be a road trip to NSW.

But being optimistic thinking of WA for April/May next year and a cray cruise and Ningaloo reef.Damn you @JohnM.

Hmmm, what’s been going on all day while I’ve been out swimming with the Manta Rays and a turtle, and rubbernecking the Ningaloo coral at Coral Bay? 😎🤙😘

😛😛

I have been wondering what reasons people have for refusing tests.
From what I've heard - albeit second-hand - it's because it comes with a requirement to self-isolate until results come back. That may be a couple of days. And people don't necessarily have sick leave attached to their jobs.

Andrews last week announced that if you test positive you're subsequently entitled to a hardship payment, but no such luck if you're not. You're not allowed to leave the house to work. You're not entitled to JobKeeper or JobSeeker. You could get fired for not turning up. Much better to refuse the test and go to work and get paid.

Andrews closed one of the loopholes last week. Feels like this also needs to be addressed - I'm pretty sure it's in the public interest.

The Vic Gov and Health Department's biggest mistake has been an Ivory Tower Syndrome.

The lack of connection with the real world had them assuming that everyone would in the main do the right thing. Most did, but some chose not too.
The second aspect of the Ivory Tower was not realising that all understood and heeded their communications.
The third aspect was staying in the tower when the clues were mounting at least a month ago that a one fits all approach to the virus had some significant holes.
In particular not understanding that some people who had symptoms would not present for testing for a variety of reasons never seemed to enter their thinking till only a weekish back, and had them thinking that community transmission was lower than it actually was in some select areas.

Maybe I have Covid covered. An update on TV just now. I am currently on 3 medications currently being investigated for prevention or treatment of Covid. Not that I want to test that out.

If like me you are old enough to have had the TB shot you might have another covered. Unless it has worn off of course.

My son was tested Friday - i held his head and he jerked cried and vomited. Results back Saturday negative just a common cold.

I had started to get sick yesterday - did the right thing as qld health recommendation any symptoms get tested. She held it up my nose for close to 10 seconds I gagged and it was painful, they then use the same swap with snot on it to push down your throat. Dry reaching all the way. If I had had my test before my son he would never have been tested. I would not have subjected him to that in Queensland with the current rates, if I was in a Victoria hot spot might be a different decision.

They are supposed to do it the opposite way if only one swab. Into back of the throat and then into each nostril.

This is why they are starting to use the saliva test even though it is not currently as accurate. It can be used for children and others who would have a problem with the test.

And GP I know is not at all keen to get infant son tested for similar reason but will have adults in the family tested instead.

Is he in his 30s and still living at home? 😀
What?

Foreign correspondent tonight covered the approach by Sweden. They also found that the more migrant communities suffered the most along with the elderly. 5000 deaths so far and Sweden is cut off with their borders closed. Very little testing going on. You can catch it on iview if you wish.
