Qantas improves conditions on vouchers

... I was flying CBR-MEL bus class and MEL-CBR red-e deal all on the same booking. When I went for a refund, they refused and said that the most onerous refund conditions applied to the whole thing. They would not even consider just refunding the business class leg because by now I could not care less about DSCs! Kind of makes a mockery of a refundable business class fare, but I guess that’s my fault for not knowing.

Certainly something I learned from all this, and a mistake I'll never make again! Hopefully my multi-city Aus-UK-Europe-Aus-NZ-Aus in oct is cancelled , and thankfully is looking like it should be. But frustrating to have all business legs except for one domestic economy , and so they wont issue a free refund.

Yes most frustrating. I feel like it is very sneaky and I certainly was not aware at all - otherwise I could easily have made 2 bookings. anyway, older and wiser and I hope it works out OK for you. Incidentally I am still waiting for the voucher to appear - and I cancelled in mid March.

Sorry if this has been covered elsewhere.

If you had a voucher due to cancelling your travel before this mess got so bad and used it -say this week- to book a flight/s overseas on dates that are currently selling but the flights were cancelled closer to the departure date would you be entitled to a cash refund due to the involuntary cancellation?
