QANTAS takes A380s out of circulation [and reduces flights]

If I could suggest, it may take at least another 24 hours for future schedules and aircraft swaps to be finalised in their booking systems. Me thinks it would be too early to start doing searches to try to observe what is or isn't changed/not changed.
Oh it was the part about the current A380 service on QF35/36.
I forgot to mention the 2 A380s going to maintenance in addition to the 8 grounded.

If they've only got 2 A380s in service, then which route will it be on besides SYD-LAX QF11/12?

MEL-SIN had already been scheduled to go from 380 to 787 in the changes a week ago from 1-April.

Now further downgraded to 330 from 20-April.

Think that means SIN will have no PE either with SYDs QF81/82 being a 330.

Grounding 8 plus 2 in refurb/maint. QF11/12 will be the only A380 route from 20-Apr
Thanks, didn't see your post when I typed mine.

I think MEL-LAX QF93/94 isn’t going down to a 789 until 1 June though.

So presumably there’s 4 in service until 1 June

You'd hope they were leaving the refurbished A380 flying i, ... wouldn't you? What's the 'sign' that you're on a refurbed version?

No if they announced it today it'll be downgraded to a 789 soon enough. The schedule might not reflect this however

No upstairs economy, 1-2-1 in Business, can't remember off the top of my head what the PE sign is. No sign in F (at least on the seat maps)

No, my point was today’s announcement said QF93/94 would be downgraded to a 789 from 1 June.

Has it changed again since? I can't keep up:

I can't keep up either!

I'll just get on board whatever aircraft is at the gate on the day I travel.

Why do you say passengers won't want to travel via Perth? In this climate, with so much going on, if I really want to get to London, I'll take any flight available.
If I was travelling in economy I would not want to fly via Perth - just too long in a squeezy seat. Also may have planned a stop over in SIN. Whilst Singapore is showing 160 cases, half have recovered and there have been no deaths. I would still fly via SIN. If it's a leisure traveller I would be inclined to cancel if I could, not because of the virus but as I didn't want the long haul from Perth. Even in J it would be a stretch. I would be looking at booking with another airline.
Moot point as it doesn't affect me.

My 16th successive annual DONEx coming up in May - and the first one ever to not have any QF sectors. Was I Nostradamus*? 🤪

*Mind you, I don't know what QR, AA & JL are going to do. 😟😜

I suspect that the "contact" that QF is to make with us, over the coming week, or so, regarding flight changes, will be just a new e-ticket, with the changes already completed.

I won't be holding my breath and waiting for the anticipated phone call to discuss options. :)

Or they have a lot of people to work through.
All computerised, I would expect, once the new flight schedules have been loaded. New e-tickets issued over the next few days/week?

I guess as expected... award availability has almost disappeared, at least for low level FFers - SYD-DFW was showing lots of availability in July in business and first, now only PEY and Y.

Yes. When this happened to me a few weeks ago when the Melbourne flights downsized, I got an e-mail telling me my flight had changed and here's the new itinerary. They said to call if it didn't suit - so I called and got re-routed. Let's see whether this route sticks...

My advice would be to get pro-active. The few good accommodations will go to the first pax who ask. Phone up, be prepared to hang on for hours and deal with a real person.

Oh - and the changes seem to show up first on Check My Trip before you get any contact from QF.
