Mishaps down, but delays up for Aussie flyers

The number of aviation mishaps in Australia dropped in the past year despite some high-profile incidents.

Australian Transport Safety Bureau statistics show in the 12 months to September accidents dropped to 131 from 153 for the same period in 2007.

There were 37 serious incidents, down from 40 last year, while minor incidents were down 23 per cent to 5990.
