Hi,

I wasn't sure where exactly to put this so I apologise if its in the wrong spot. but HK are alliances with velocity so close?
I was just after some advice.
I booked a business ticket Taipei to HK on 19-2 one way through Expedia (I couldn't get the HK airlines website to work).
Ive just received an email from HK airlines and Expedia saying that my seat has been downgrade to economy. the flight time is unchanged
Looking at seat guru and the HK airlines website business is no longer available. it seems its probably changed from a dual to a single cabin flight.

Now I'm not too fussed about economy for the flight (its a little under 2 hours) its before a separately booked VA (J) flight back to Sydney from HK.
I have plenty of layover time etc.. My issue is I woke the flight because A it was cheap for business but more for the carry on allowance ( I have one bag and a suit bag). I don't want to have to go through immigration at HK.
The price difference between economy and business was only ~$250.

im just wondering what my options are before I contact Expedia and the airline. I.E re: partial refunds/a baggage allowaces etc. im unlikely to fly HK airlines again anytime soon.

Cheers Thankyou!

Not many options unfortunately. You can either change to a flight with a business cabin (earlier or later), seek a full refund, travel on the flight in economy and get a refund of the difference between business and economy. However I’d look carefully at the refund being offered... it may not be to the lowest available economy fare.

If you decide to travel in economy, you won’t get any of the benefits of the business class ticket... so no extra hand luggage etc. (If the downgrade had occurred in the day of travel, you may sometimes receive the benefits of the higher cabin)
