Qantas doesn't care about priority boarding

PASS : QF30 ex HKG > MEL Thursday 23rd.
Priority queue boarded first.
I can't recall any announcement - there was a queue already formed, and it just started moving.

Never had a problem with priority boarding in HKG.

Two queues marked Business and the various status tiers etc etc and Economy.

First call was for families and like a wave they appeared including teenagers...and they were boarded through both queues. When husband & I approached business queue at the end of the families with "kids", we were abruptedly told that premium customers had not yet been called. WTF! I stood my ground and was processed.

I do understand that settling families first is a good idea but to deny premium passengers boarding is a joke.
 
BNE>MEL Staff walked the line to check for eligibility, PB first and then other line.

MEL>BNE PB line boarding first but lots of people from regular line simply shifted in to PB line when they saw it boarding, nobody checking and scanning staff didn't care
 
MEL > PER Arrived at the gate a little early, loose grouping of passengers waiting near the priority queue, no one willing to commit, as soon as business and status called first, they all rushed for the queue, processed via 3 machines, no boarding passes pre-checked.

PER > MEL redeye, delayed 4 1/2 hrs, 2 queues, I suspect they called boarding for pax in the lounge after most of the gate pax had been boarded, which is fair enough given the delay and there was only a single aerobridge.

As a surprise this trip, Priority Baggage worked :) .

Oh, God. So you left about 3am? Did the lounge stay open?

Feel for you, I was doing that bloody trip every second month for 6 years, excruciating.

4am :( was feeling pretty wrecked, lounge stayed open and most lounge pax claimed bench seating to spread out.

I have decided I am never going to do that timing again if I can help it, I thought I was comfortable with an 11.30pm departure but the delay just killed it, lucky I had nothing on the next day.

Boarding for "business and premium" was announced.

First 3 pax in premium queue presented but were asked to stand aside and a firther announcement was made that general boarding had not yet commenced.

A couple of others between the priority tapes exited and/or let others go past.

That was the last I saw as I then boarded.

I have to say I have had no problems with priority boarding. ANYWHERE Only time is always in SYD when they always board before the piublished time but we go down from the lounge anyway to get the carry on in the overheads.

Very recently i was on QF101 flying Sydney to Nadi
About ten mins late opening the gate
Announcement made
"Business class only to the left , economy to the right "
And it was repeated emphatically.
I found it quite odd that status passengers weren't mentioned at all
No idea what would have happened had I gone in the business queue without a business seat (platinum here )

Has QF gradually dropped the ball? My success rate seems to be hovering probably at 20% currently. There are couple of flights which effectively had nearly boarded when I arrive at the gate so having any segregation would be moot at that point but in nearly all the other cases both queues have boarded simultaneously.
I've started to send feedback using this Customer Care feedback form. Hopefully it's the right form / channel to use.

Dropped it? Qantas never actually had a grip on it in the first place, just fumbled with it and tried to convince us otherwise.
 
I did have Qantas try and call me back re: some boarding feedback I gave the other day (was presenting something for work so missed the call). It feels like they are at least trying (albeit very slowly...)
 
This time I requested a response to my feedback and got it in a couple of days. It's nearly a boilerplate (and refers to an individual team member while I talked about the queues boarding simultaneously) but if they do actually forward the comments to the airport side and there's enough of them flooding in, gradually the message may start to sink in to some more receptive minds. 🤓

Failure 4th February QF 671 MEL-ADL Priority Boarding announced however the cabin crew ignored it and boarded from both lanes at the same time I commented good to see the priority boarding working and the crew member just shrugged his shoulders and advised oh well that's the way it is. They couldn't give a monkeys.

Excellent 6th February QF 696 ADL-MEL Priority boarding announced commenced boarding from priority lane only. People in the general boarding lane rushed forward and were told by cabin crew that they would begin general boarding once priority boarding had been completed. Passengers didn't look very happy but well done to the crew a complete contrast to the flight on the 4th.
