MEL - DPS using points ( Virgin Australia or Singapore Airlines )

I am planning to book for J class tickets using points from Melbourne to Bali. I have around 280K velocity points and will need to get reward tickets for 3 pax. Is it better to book directly with Virgin using points or transfer the points to Kris Flyer for reward bookings.

Dates are fixed ( 31 Oct - 4 Nov ) so not sure if there is enough available on virgin flights.

Appreciate any suggestions or feedback on how best to make use of my points to fly business class.

Booking via VA on SQ metal it will cost you 130k per pax return in points plus $140. There is availability but they include long layovers in SIN and if you are flexible even just slightly with your dates it will be better as the departing flight isn’t until the evening so you lose a day. Any chance you can leave the night before?
I haven’t checked the SQ site but for memory I think the points required is similar but you lose out transferring them so if you can get availability with VA I’d go down that path

I was also thinking the same. It might best suit us if we leave the evening of 30th Oct , I guess you are also referring to the same date ?

Yes, evening of the 30th.

You would have to book a hotel as there is either an 8 or 9 hour connection.
On the way home the available flights are overnight from SIN so wouldn’t arrive until the following morning
