QF First Lounge in Singapore

A lot of people who actually know the lounge access rules had been going to the BA lounge when the QF lounge was full.
With the new lounge open, there is likely a number of those people who had been going to the other oneworld lounges (or to EK) checking out the new F lounge.

Seems like a case of the highway problem.
Add more lanes to the highway due to congestion, and it just leads to more traffic as the people who hadn't been using the highway, now do.

Or maybe it's the new cafe/restaurant syndrome common in Melbourne. Queues outside and impossible to make a booking from day of opening for 1-3 months then half empty thereafter.

I've had to wait at times for a table at SYD (put on a list), MEL and LAX F-lounges too, so the new SIN F-lounge might not be so different in that regard.

(1) is hard to predict, because it it could be predicted it likely would have been. If you see 150-200 F lounge-worthy pax in the J lounge and build to a 240 seat capacity that's a good margin.

QF announced the Singapore F lounge plans in October 2018, shortly after running three non-targeted DSC in a single year, and then following it up with another one in early 2019.

The data they used to calculate the 240 seats may have been accurate at the time, but in the 13 months which has passed between then and lounge opening, I suspect the number of QF WPs significantly ballooned. Given it seems the lounge is already running close to capacity, I wonder if the impact of all those DSCs was included in the F lounge eligible pax projections.

The last reported F lounge menu (I think SYD) showed that Perrier-Jouët had been removed :(
It was there on the Spring menu. I have a blurry copy of it from when I was there in October.
Unless there is a new Spring menu ?

EDIT I’ll check again on Wednesday in SYD.

Pommery and Mumm Rosé but you can get the very drinkable Perrier-Jouët

I wouldn't be surprised if 'you can get' were the operative words in PF's post ;) 😄

Even I know there is stuff not on the menu that can be obtained ...

Gone last Friday in SYD, I asked for it without looking at the menu and was told it’s gone :(

Can confirm this too, was there last Sunday 23rd and Sadly PJ is gone... Pommery passable but pales in comparison really.

Sometimes I've seen slight variations during the season for the same location, but you'd think that's due to produce being unavailable or not meeting the standard.
Not so much for stock or commercial reasons.

Yeah I figured, I was referring to this:

That’s the breakfast menu. Perhaps a typo. It was available and on the all day menu in SYD. I had two glasses.
Anyhoo I will check again next week to see if it’s still there.

If it has been cut, and QF do indeed fix PB next week, then we can move onto fixing this new PJ issue quick smart. I’m going back to the cricket and my glass of Alkoomi Rose from Epiqure - $12 a bottle :)

I didn't realise I quoted your post from the other thread, whoops.

Maybe they told you it was unavailable, meaning it was unavailable for breakfast and not to serve it until after a certain time? Doesn't make sense though.

On old breakfast menus PJ has been listed, with the other champagnes on offer.

I guess them taking champagnes off the SYD/MEL menu isn't too surprising, they've done it with Bollinger, Veuve Clicquot, Delamotte, Taittinger over the years.

We'll be left with the cheapest bottle that still has the label 'champagne' on it soon...

FWIW: The SIN F lounge is now also the contracted lounge for Air France first class ex-SIN. Also, anecdotally, a lot of BAEC Golds already decamping on a daily basis from the BA lounge to QF F, especially ahead of BA16 and BA12 (less so in transit on BA16). I think this might be part of that X-factor in capacity forecast.
