Have you met all conditions in section 6.2 of the T&C's?

Not for the bonus points no. I had my first statement issued and should have received a few thousand based on my spending. None have been credited to my account as yet. I’m interested in the posting time of standard rather than bonus points.

Are you reading the same 6.2 as I am????.....

6.2 Crediting of Qantas Points Subject to this clause, Qantas Points you earn will be credited once a month to the nominated Qantas Frequent Flyer Account. They will normally be available for use within 21 days of being credited. However, we accept no responsibility for loss or damage if Qantas Points are not credited or available for use within this time. Qantas Points will not be transferred until: › You have spent an initial $1,500 on Eligible Purchases using your Card; and › You have been an Account Holder for at least 60 days (unless you have converted an existing Bankwest credit card account to a Card Account in which case it must be at least 60 days since your existing credit account was opened). In addition, Qantas Points will not be transferred where: › Your Card has been reported lost or stolen; › You have not paid the minimum amount due on your Card statement by the due date; or › You are not over the age of 18.

Yes they sure have covered themselves for failure to deliver points on time. Basically after reading that they can issue them anytime they like.

I particularly like "In addition, Qantas Points will not be transferred where:...........You are not over the age of 18".

Just in case they've accidentally issued a credit card to a minor

One would suspect they would have bigger things to worry about if they had done this.

I wanted to do a test app to see what happened. Came out pretty well. The 90K World card was approved online, for 18K. I was worried as husband retired and I'm self employed. But a very good credit rating. If that means anything these days.
Have a lot of credit cards, about 8, totalling around 60K, two I'm getting rid of, and said so. So...wondering if that ACTUALLY means anything to them, I mean, people can say they're getting rid of a card, and then just not do it.
Budget questions meant to test the truth I think.
Have a couple of Questions...
If your application is rejected, or not as you want, can you apply again ...in how long?
And someone earlier talking about paying ebp's. What is an ebp?

You can apply as many times as you like whenever you like. Each time you do, your credit score will probably take a hit. The credit agencies work in mysterious ways as to the credit card providers. My rule of thumb is one application per 3-4 months.

This has been possibly the most bizzare card application I've had, and that's including two Citi applications.

Got a call tonight from a guy there who asked me some questions, wanting to confirm my start date (fair enough, I started a new job in January), asked my about my HECS (which has never factored into a credit application for me before) which was odd.

Got another call shortly after from the same guy, apparently their numbers and my start date weren't working out and they just wanted to confirm this. Confirmed and offered to send them payslips from January which was declined and said they'd just take my word for it (okay then?) and they'd have to get a credit manager to sign off on it, and I'd hear from them next week probably.

Yet another call, wanting to confirm my other cards (currently have a BankSA, Citi and Coles card) and wanting to confirm my balances, which I didn't know off the top of my head so ballparked it (and overestimated in the end). Asked if I was closing these cards, which was odd again because I said I was closing them in the application. Confirmed that I was and apparently he'd been basing the application on me keeping them. He ran the numbers again and the computer said yes, card will be here in 5 to 10 days. (Do they send them from Perth, or from the Western states?)

In any case, this made Citi look competent. At least they were just slow and had an annoyingly broken website.

QUESTION: if BPay is 'not an eligible payment' for getting Qantas points, is there a way of paying bills that IS an eligible payment method?
I can see in the Ts and Cs in 1. Overview of Bankwest Qantas Rewards, you will earn Qantas points on eligible purchases,...and in the table below contains
"Except: BPay payments; ie bill payments and other payments made through the BPay Electonric Payments System. "
so does that mean ALL bill payments are ineligible? or only those paid with BPay are ineligible?? I'm trying to work out how, exactly, to get my$6000 and a bit ...surprised. I'm REALLY HOPING that bill payments, OTHER than bpay are acceptable for Qantas points.

so does that mean ALL bill payments are ineligible?

My reading of that is they're only ineligible if you use Bpay to pay them - "ie." is used for a specific example (in this case, BPay payments are ineligible), while if it were "e.g." this would suggest that while Bpay is one of the things that's not eligible, there are others that they haven't listed.

If you're paying by having the biller take the funds directly from the card I don't see that being ineligible for the points unless spend with the biller wouldn't earn points to begin with.

But, it is best to get in touch with them and confirm this.

Only bpay payments are ineligible. If you go to a website to pay a bill (such as a utility bill) and you type in the card details, or use your physical card, or use paypal, etc etc your bill payment is eligible.

Be mindful of course of other T&Cs (Government Payments, etc) which may exclude a payment from being eligible, but simply paying a bill by cc does not affect the eligibility.

Thanks 33, but may I clarify....
So I can
a) go to the website and type the card details,
b) go into the office and use the physical card
c) use paypal or
d) ring up a company to pay
e) post it in with credit card details...............and all theseWOULD be elibible for toward the $$.

Can you explain more (perhaps give an example) of what governemtn payments might be that might exclude a payment from being eligible? What constitutes a Govt payment? rates? (local government), Rego? (I understand you can't pay tax, but could I pay the tax AGENT? for example....
It all seems very grey area to me.

And on St. George's t& Cs they say "Bpay and Bpay equipvalent transactions....what does THAT mean?
(I'll delete my new thread, asking same.) - uh oh. Can't.

It differs by card provider and it is almost impossible to tell without a test payment. ATO is generally always ineligible, council rates payments depend (because every local council conducts these payments differently). Sometimes public transport fees are ineligible. Sometimes rego. The only ways to know for sure are to avoid completely or test with a small payment, and then check at the end of the month. Even the bank themselves often don't know or will just flat out say no if you hint that you think it could possibly be constituted as a govt payment.

The root of this problem is that government payments conducted by government entities get a lower transaction cost associated than a standard merchant does. As a result, any of those payments are ineligible for points earn. And you'll only know they're ineligible when you don't get points for them.

Not a clue. At best my guess would be bpay, or bpay through sites like postbillpay.com.au.

Wow. Pays to be familiar with the Ts and Cs. I've been paying bills with Bpay on my Amplify for years. :( Never knew, until I saw Bankwest's rule, and decided to check on St. George amplify too. Darn it.
Now I'm wondering about my 'business' payments. I rent Council halls to hold my Watercolour painting classes, I'm guessing that constitutes as 'business.' Damn. How would they know, and what would the repercussions be? I never cheat. I would rather not start now.

I think you're safe with this one, it's more to ensure that people aren't taking out consumer credit cards and running large business expenses through them. Some T&Cs are there to cover the bank not awarding points on transactions that are low value to them (and hence the lack of clarity around exactly which they are, they only know when they see the transaction and the associated merchant fees), others are to allow them to terminate credit cards being fundamentally misused. Large business-related transactions that are clearly so would eventually get their attention I would think, but they'd be unlikely to affect points earn.

Read the very first post.
The first few lines.

No point in not reading a thread and asking questions like you deserve an answer. It's harmful behaviour. Just saying.

Well , i just applied and got a knockback.
I only have had trouble with Macquarie cards in the past.
Self employed , good income and owe $5 on a large line of credit but i think i missed listing all my assets.
Rang them back and they wouldnt tell me why , citing commercial in confidence.
