hope i didnt open another can of worms..couldnt get any availability in J for KUL/SIN/BKK to Australia.. in mid April.. only economy ..:-(

You have identified a glitch. Dunno if temporary or not.

With TG availability only generally available 14 days out it's making it hard to get to/from Australia these days. There are some select flights in SQ business IIRC - if the flight is classified as 'regional' for seating purposes. 'De luxe' A380/77W on SQ may be problematic.

Connecting out of KUL may be difficult given LM doesn't always like connections.

Just tried looking for this info but no luck.
Can CA flight be booked from MEL -LON via PEK as a one way booking using screen shots if both the booking show or is it not possible to redeem on CA for that route.
The flights are online and can be purchased as 2 redemptions.
Thanks

Yes, that should be fine. I found an IAD-PEK-SYD the other day that was bookable entirely on line, so Europe should be no different.

I heard back from Lifemiles and they say internal policies prevent booking these flight. They say its open jaw and not bookable as one a single reward.

Ummmm. Dunno what to say. This is not an open jaw, so I don't know why they are having an issue booking it.

Yep. I always thought open jaw was booking into one city and departing from another city on a return ticket.
I tried re-sending the request but the same customer service agent caught me and sent me back a terse reply:(
Shame you cant HUACA with Lifemiles.

By definition an open jaw ticket is not a return ticket.

It's A-B C-A.

By definition an open jaw IS a return ticket. The passenger is leaving from A to B, and returning from C to A. Or A to B and B to C.

There are permutations on this, such as ‘double open jaws’, where you are returning from a different airport at destination, to a different airport at origin, for example A to B and C to D (example MEL-LHR//CDG-SYD)

The advantage of the open jaw is that you get the benefit of the round trip fare which is usually significantly cheaper than 2x one ways.

any recent successful Australia-(Europe)-USA redemptions?

(or anyone with a large enough points balance to send off a request?)

I'm skipping lifemiles for a while. getting too hard to find flights as above post shows.

internal policies being the reason quoted for a straight forward booking scares me off.
Thai flights hard to find as well.

going to watch this space for a while.

A couple of questions:
  1. What’s the cancellation fee/policy for LM awards? If you cancel your trip do you get back all the points and taxes or do they take some points like the QF 6000 point cancellation policy
  2. I am looking at booking for 2pax for next June but can’t confirm if partner is coming. If he doesn’t, is it possible to cancel only one ticket or would the entire award booking need to be cancelled?
  3. Do you cancel through LM or through the airline you booked the awards with?
Thank you in advance!

1. Cancellations after 10pm (Bogotá time) on the day of booking cost $200 USD per ticket.
2. You should be able to cancel only one ticket in the booking, even if on same PNR but I would book those to tickets separately just to avoid any future complications.
3. If using LM miles you cancel directly through LM.

In theory they should be able to split the booking and cancel one ticket. But in reality I think it would be easier to book 2 separate tickets if in dount. You will pay an extra $25 booking fee though.

So other then the US$200 fee you get your points back in full?

And is there a change fee if you change the dates of travel, as long as award availability is there to change to?

Change fee is $150 USD IIRC.
