SMS Login Verification - Argh

Given that sharing your PIN with someone else is against the T&C of the program, I'm not sure what the issue is. Your DOB is at least something you're not forbidden from sharing. I'm surprised there are so many people here openly admitting to giving away information they've agreed not to.

I'm also not sure why you'd want to give someone else access to your QFF account. Would you give an EA access to your bank account too? Surely your QFF number is sufficient for these purposes? Personally, I wouldn't give my employer access to my account.
Long bow drawn there!

Lots of moaning when the problem is easily solvable. If you travel a lot it's a no-brainer, and lets you get on with your life without all the endless whining :)

Incorrect.

As said many time earlier in this thread, it costs nothing to receive SMS while you are roaming overseas.

So much fake news ......

The Fake news is that was not what he said. You need to pay to enable roaming in many cases, which is needed to get the SMS. I don't activate roaming when I'm travelling.

So the bosses have to book their own rental cars, and do their own visa applications? Then those bosses aren't very important then :p
I’d do my husbands Visa if that is required, given they may also ask for a whole lot more personal data. Can’t remember the last time he rented a car. Guess that means he’s not important enough.

Really? I'm surprised anyone who travels OS would be on a plan that requires you to pay to enable roaming. Even the most basic Vodafone plans don't cost a cent extra to enable OS roaming.

Then why don’t I receive them when I’m os and only on wifi. I connect to 3G and receive several at once.
Sms or iMessage? Sms does not work over wifi. It’s on the mobile network only. iMessage can work on any internet connection

Not always, most roaming is free to access and you need to opt out and disable international roaming if you don't want it.

Plenty of very good dual SIM phones around but I've never been charged to receive an SMS overseas.

Not for Vodafone. It's PAYG and receiving SMS is free and doesn't trigger the roaming charge.

Yes even on Telstra when you enable roaming you are only charged when you use your phone. No charge for an SMS as mrsdrron found out on our last trip.it is what we will be using from now on.So I need to change my phone number to hers when we go away and change it back when home as then we can be in different places.
I am with Belong which at the moment doesn't have OS roaming. But I can ring Colombia which is handy.
;)

As soon as roaming is activated every time someone rings you it'll cost you, even if you don't answer it.

Which plan/company are you with that does that? I've never heard of that and if that is the case, you really need to change providers.

Telstra most definitely do charge you for unanswered calls (that divert to messagebank) once they know you are roaming.

Seriously who came up with the idea of SMS verification for login?
  • Nobody wants to pay for receiving SMS while outside of Australia
  • What % of Qantas members travel overseas and pick-up local sim cards?
  • SMS are not free - Qantas is paying for each MT SMS. Even higher costs to some non-AU destinations
  • Australia is one of the last remaining countries in the world still hanging on to SMS.
I may never login to my Qantas on the web, ever again.

Does anyone else find SMS log-in super annoying?

You could always stop using telstra... voda and optus are basically giving away roaming with near unlimited data and free call and txt ofcourse
