"Find out more about status from flying"

Get ready for status from spending!
Thats been going on for a while now though. The ANZ Black Visa came with 75 status credit for new customers as a promo and the Qantas Premier Titanium card gives a 20% status credit bonus as well. I'm certain there's been other credit card offerings of status credits as well.

Well I'm 2/3rds of the way to LTG for AA, but that also seems like a lost cause (and glad I recently burnt 170K AA points sending my wife to London in October). VA has no lifetime benefits and nothing with BA etc...

Then again, maybe the status wheel is finally losing it's gloss. Might just buy points where I need them and fly in premium cabins.

At 75,000 SC .... I'm more than 1/3 the way there, but will not be bothering trying to make up balance. If WP stays with the current benefits, that will probably me my sweet spot mixed with lots of suites flying over on SQ.

- LTP is a go for 75k
I know I'm arguing at the wind here, but I would have thought the better way to reward loyalty for such an important level would be to base it solely off QF Group flights with a lower threshold. That way, those that have predominantly flown Qantas don't have to retain WP for 60+ years (by which time I expect they wont be flying anymore anyway). A threshold at half that level but based solely on QF would stump a lot of flyers who have previously used CX out of CMB/TPE or AA YUPP runs. Platinum One flyers would obviously hit it really quickly, but to argue that it's too easy for someone that might be flying 5000SC a year is targeting the wrong user base, they can have their own LT level that's insane, sort of like what BA does.

Re: "Find out more about status from flying"

It's kind of ironic that the whole point of SC's in the first place is to distinguish flying from points, which can be collected from so many other means (credit cards, flybuys, etc). Now this purpose has been eroded with things like SC bonuses from credit cards, tier bonuses, etc. So they have to further make a special category of SC's that are only actually flying related...

This is my quick and dirty Oneworld Award comparison. It's all over the shop. Can someone check I got the right numbers?

Can you link to the source for those numbers?

Interestingly OW awards up to 14,000/16,800 return miles (zone 7/8) depending on class appear to have gotten cheaper.

Actually, the changes to the Oneworld Award probably make sense. I suspect no one redeems at the lower end, so the reductions mean little...but the increase to the RTW is probably a reflection of where all the activity is...

That does seem a little strange @MarcB , as I expected that QF would have to raise their partner award rates as most of their partners have higher redemption amounts in their own programs and were probably putting pressure on QF.

However, QF surely want to increase loads on the existing flight network and releasing more seats may allow them to do so. It'll still be all about status and point in time the request is made.

On a side note, is it even possible to do a oneworld Classic Reward at 1200mi? You'd need to cover QF + 2 non-QF oneworld partners, and cover all the surface sector distances...

All up except for economy which has gone down about 8000 points.
Will the fees/charges be reduced though?
Yep sorry...I only looked at the zone 10. It wasn't until I did the table I saw a lot more downward trends. :0
