This was a sensational meal! Fine dining is not for everyone, but if you have the inclination .... this restaurant will not disappoint.

These experiences is what AFF is all about. I posted a thread asking questions about Paris Restaurants, and the the recommendation flowed through... a big thank you to the members that responded.

This photo captures the moment and memories of a great meal.

What was the Savagnin like? Every time I see Savagnin, I think of the disaster in Australia a few years ago when it turned out that what was thought to have been imported to produce Albarino (one of my favourite whites, I have to say!) was in fact Savagnin - a nondescript variety compared with Albarino. Trying to sell a straight Savagnin in Australia is nigh on impossible - it sounds too much like Sauvignon.

It's taken a long time time to even start recovering from that shambles. A few Australian Albarinos are now starting to appear.

Looks absolutely sensational indeed :) is there an expected dress code for this type of establishment?

That looked like a stellar meal. I imagine you must of rolled out of there after all that. What was the green thing with the cheese plate?

It was very nice. All the wines were selected to match a dish, the sommelier gave a good description for each wine explaining the region, history, etc. He spent quite a bit of time with us, hence the additional pours, and extra glasses to sample with different dishes.

Selecting the wine pairing can be a risky business - most times we've done it its been very disappointing. This restaurant / team completely excelled with the pairing.

I would absolutely encourage people to eat here and go with the wine pairing.

One of the best meals ever! Yes, they have a dress code, but it's not enforced. They request men wear a jacket (not a tie) ... the restaurant was full and I'd say 50% of the men didn't wear a jacket.

Enforcing a dress code would be risky these days....

It was a happy endurance at 4 + hours.

It was lettuce with a really delicate dressing, first time I've had it with cheese, but it worked a treat.

Sheesh. You refuse to be educated in the way of the amazing wines from Jura

The rest of the day was spent walking off some of that delicious meal.

Norte Dame - this is as close as you can get from the Ile de la Cite side .... surrounding businesses, cafes, restaurants have all been closed due to temporary fencing, and the ones that are open look to be in a pretty grim position.

The forecourt is now a builders compound and access from the other side has been cut due to police closing the bridges.

Amazingly we ended up clocking up over 20,000 steps for the day.... not bad given we didn't leave the hotel until 11am and had a 4.5 hour lunch. Sunset is around 9.30pm this time of year, so walking is a very Parisian thing to do. Unsurprisingly - we didn't go out for dinner.

For some reason I have never wandered through the Palais Royale, but I can see I will have to make up for that in September.

First time visit for us ..... reminded me of Place de Vosges, just bigger and more sophisticated. Les Demux Plateaux is also interesting.

Today we walked out and kept going straight - absolutely nothing planned other than a dinner reservation.

This is our 7th visit to Paris so we’ve seen just about everything. It is so liberating just exploring, no queues, museums, attractions...

A rare event for Paris - Allée Sonia Rykiel

The market street was named after her September last year.
