Hilton Honors Macquarie Platinum Card Discontinued

I got on chat. Diamond till 31/3/2021.

HH account page still shows 2020 though.

As far as I can tell, there is no expiry date anywhere that I can see on the web app or mobile app. Guess I'll need to phone to see if it has been done. The last communication with them took it through to 2020.

Was your card embossed? My card is not embossed with the credit card number. Not sure if its by design or part of that faulty batch. Will find out when I go to use it I guess...
That's by design. Mine only has the number printed on the back. It's been years and years since one of my CCs has needed a manual imprint ...

If you're in the app, under Account, My Status, click on the "i", it will say how many nights in 2019, and what level in 2020. Mine says member in 2020 and does not reflect the extension to 2021.

Mine's not embossed either. I think this might be by design since we don't have card imprinters anymore. My Citi US card has the number printed on the back the same as the Macquarie one. Amex Platinum is now etched in the back but not raised very much. I'm keeping my Macquarie card in the bottom drawer now. Should give it a try as might take it overseas after July for the Free FX. Wonder how fair their exchange rates will be.

Non-embossed here. Tried it out today for the first time, and worked both times, first go each time.

That piece of functionality won't tell you your expiration date. Just how you are tracking against the standard renewal process.

Chat tells me March 2020 ... I guess I’d better call Macquarie. Does activation of the new card play into this?

The card details for my new card are exactly the same as the old card, no need to change any direct debits. No need to activate it either which seems a bit unsecure with the card being sent in the mail.
Will miss the annual reward certificate and the Diamond status when it expires.
Looking forward to having a no fee, no FX and rewards earning card to use though. The rate seems to be slightly better than 1% converted into gift cards.

I tried to poke around the rewards part, but it seems insistant that I still have an Honors card

Called the change to the Qantas rewards, however, the phone agent indicated that the annual fee would now be charged (not just the qantas fee) despite being on the fee free deal since 2017. They have escalated to an account manager for further investigation.

Wouldn't surprise me if that was the case. They may be willing to wear it for the own program, but not if they have to give out Qantas Points.

Is the extra split out as a Qantas Fee? Or is the card just $299 ongoing?

Looking at simply switching to Macquarie Signature Black with Qantas points. Too much effort to switch and time poor. $4K per month at $1:1pt and 2x for QF spend makes it look more attractive. Must call them to arrange, when I find a spare5 mins

A 10 minute phone call on Friday, switched to QF points. I don’t see any benefit with Macquarie Rewards.

Did you have to get a new credit card, or could you just keep using the old one? Thank you.

Keep the existing card. Just make a phone call to change from Macquarie Rewards to Qantas crediting.

Guys was digging around the Macquarie website and it says that the Black card includes Lounge Access. Hope this is true for the switch because that will be great.
