I just received this card never having been a St G customer before, and I was 'intrigued' with the process, having had cards with almost every other major bank + AMEX. I don't know if it's a reflection on process changes since the RC, but I suspect not. Whilst my circumstances probably aren't straight-forward, I note with interest the other posters who report just how laborious the process was and that was my experience too. Conditionally approved instantly, but then multiple requests for 'more information'.

There were also 'little things' like having to go to the branch to get the cards, and not being able to apply online for additional card holders.

I can't quite work-out if they're just better at due diligence than their competitors, or just a bit less tech-saavy - I'll give them the benefit of the doubt...!
@Bell21 how long did it take from conditional approval to receiving the cards. We are still waiting. Numerous requests for information already sent.

I've signed up to receive QFF points, as I wanted the sign-up bonus in QFF points, but I want to switch to Amplify for general spend asap. I understand sign-up bonus can take up to 12 weeks to post. I've also quickly met my minimum spend criteria (assuming that EBP doesn't invalidate any spending conditions for this purpose).

Question 1 - will I still receive my sign-on bonus QFF points if I switch to Amplify now that I've met minimum spend, but BEFORE sign-up QFF points are posted to my account?

Question 2 - how does the birthday bonus work if I switch from QFF to Amplify before it's due to apply for me? (I assume they apply the 10% accordingly to each of the points you've earnt in QFF and Amplify)

I wouldn’t be changing before receiving the QFF points, just because of the complication it creates. I switched from QFF to Amplify but could do so at the date my birthday bonus posted. I’m pretty sure Q2 has been answered up thread.

Well, actually only 3 or so business days ONCE I had supplied all the info (after 4 requests for info) and then another 5 days until card arrived at branch

Thanks - I will call st g but I tend to agree --- st g's terms say that any qff points 'earnt' before switch over will still accrue as qff points BUT that's still a bit ambiguous in some regards

I just spoke to St G, so thought I'd answer my own questions above in case it's relevant to others!

Question 1 - no, I won't receive sign-up bonus QFF points if I switch to Amplify before bonus points are posted to my account

Question 2 - birthday bonus only applies to your current St G reward program at time of b'day bonus (ie, if you spend 6 months earning QFF points and then switch to 6 months earning Amplify points, then on your b'day, you will only receive b'day bonus on 6 months with Amplify).

Your questions were already answered upthread/earlier, FWIW.

Thanks - I couldn't find the answer to Q2 upthread, and the info re Q1 was more black and white than already posted, so hopefully useful. Thanks for the new acronymn!

This is a know issue. Can I suggest you edit your post to say that you got a nice surprise? No need to tip the bank off!

Happens every year...enjoy :)

When they say this card has a $75k minimum annual income is that before or after tax income they're talking?

I've seen it been approved with <75k pre tax and a recent mortgage so take that as you will.

I'm not sure if I should start another thread for this, but I was interested to find-out exactly how St G's travel insurance works on this card, esp for spouse / dependents.

Interestingly, and I hadn't come across this before, but you need to spend $500 on pre-trip expenses for EACH of the main card holder, spouse, and dependents that you intend to have covered - Allianz were very clear that the claims dept would want to see proof of $500 spend per person travelling.

That makes the cover included with this card a lot less flexible than other cards.

datapoint:
min spend met on 1st statement, received 2nd statement couple of days ago - still no bonus points, only accruing points for regular spending

Hi - I'm sorry if this has been asked before but I have searched it and can't find a definitive answer for the St George card specifically. Regarding the transactions not counted in the minimum spend to get the bonus points, do “government fees” only mean ATO payments and fines etc? My main question is would car registration and council rates count towards minimum spend?

The T&Cs state the following: Eligible purchases do not include BPAY or BPAY equivalent transactions, fees, cash, cash equivalent transactions, refunds, balance transfers debited from the card account, government fees and ATO payments.

The PDS says the following: government charges (other than GST payable in connection with the purchase of goods or services on which you earn Qantas Points)
Did this ever get answered?
