Hi team,
I've been lurking here a while but this is my first post, and sorry but it's another annoying 'I want a business upgrade' post!

My wife had a small setback with her back (longstanding problems) and it is impacting our travel plans. We are currently booked on Etihad BNE-CDG departing 19/4 in economy. The sitting position is very uncomfortable for my better half and we're looking at any kind of lie flat option.

Upgrading our Etihad flights is roughly an 8k proposition just for the outbound leg.

We would get very little back if we were to cancel these flights (1k at absolute most).

Can anyone suggest any alternatives at all? Thanks in advance for your help!

Risky and might not be worth the risk. I have always been successful when upgrading for cash on check on Etihad. And the cash contribution has been very modest.

Unfortunately for the OP, business class is already almost sold out on EY485 (BNE-AUH) on 19 April. There's only 1 J seat left for sale. So the upgrade bid would likely be rejected.

EY37 (AUH-CDG) on 20 April has plenty of J seats available though. So your upgrade may come through on this sector.

If flying business class is essential, I think you'll need to rebook into business class now, or otherwise cancel and rebook with a different airline.
