I received an email from VA inviting me to join eRewards to earn opinion points. 850 VA points for completing a survey within a month. After that I think you have to earn so many opinion points before you can transfer them to VA. The conversion rate is listed.

1. How many points do you earn per survey?
2. Roughly how long might a survey take to complete?
3. I think I previously read if you're not their target market you get ejected from the survey early? Given I'm NZ based are the surveys for Australians so I'll be ejected early and never really accrue points anyway?

1. It varies
2. It varies
3. There are a few check questions at the beginning of most surveys to ensure you're the target market.

6000 eRewards points convert to 2000 VFF

Thanks (sort of, I don't like the results:(). Email conversion rates look slightly different starting at 1200 opinion points = 250 VA points

So you don't receive points if ejected early?
And roughly how many surveys do you get before you find one you complete eg 1 in 3 or is it more like 1 in 7 which probably reflect my limits of persisting and giving up.

Even living in Australia I found myself being rejected by many surveys and feeling frustrated that the 10 minutes of my life I'd wasted trying to get a (or multiple) survey(s) and points to post I'd never get back. I gave up on them maybe a year ago, though others may have more positive reports?

1. As low as 100 eRewards points and sometimes over 500, but generally 250 to 400.
2. You'd expect a 100 pointer would be 5-10 mins and a 400 pointer about 25 mins, although you can "fly" through if one wishes and hasn't been screened out a bit quicker than the guidelines.
3. I haven't done as much recently due to time and I noticed screened out more than I used to, but also technical issues when it fails 80% through the survey and you have invested a fair bit of time - started happening too frequently. To their credit, when I reported it they credited my points without issue, but it was a pain.

The best value is to transfer 6000 points to 2000 velocity points, but you can only do that once per month. I also thought you weren't able to do it O/S - not sure about NZ though, perhaps that is not blocked, although you could always VPN.

If based in NZ, and if using that as your address not sure how that would go, you could pretend you live in Aus somewhere if it is a problem, but that's for you to consider.

Good luck!!

Most of your other questions have been answered, but re: location... I signed up in AUS and whenever I try to complete a survey overseas I get geoblocked.

As to the value? Depends how you value your time. A simple calculation tells me I earn less than one dollar per hour completing surveys.

So they’re low priority for me.

But if I’m on the train with nothing else to do, then I’ll bank a few points.

It does take a lot of energy, typing and mental skills too, to answer the questions and not be blocked out because you don't fit the mould they are looking for.
I think I got to 25,000 VFF points, or was it 25,000 eRewards points, then every survey, I got blocked because I didn't fit the mould, and then I sent them an email I didn't want to continue, then I had 2nd thoughts, then went back and re asked to join back, now they don't even send me any surveys, none.
Its good if you are psychologically smart/adept too, to play the game.
Because if you answer certain questions, it can be a very very long survey, half an hour at times...
If you are retired, or work for yourself, and don't have any other commitments, then eRewards is a good way to build up eRewards points, and then transfer to VFF or to Accor.
But you must accept the email from VFF, or from Accor, some say they were able to say they want to join eRewards, but I was only able to get in after an Accor stay.
Haven't had an eRewards survey for maybe 6/7/8/9 months now.
Cigarettes seem to pop up, ie, if you smoke or...
If you drink.
Some are also about incontinence, or other, ahem activities.
Racy at times.

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

I find I can complete most. You have a profile to complete where you say what your interests are and they send surveys based on those, so if you're interested in everything then you'll get more surveys.

You get some points if you get screened out.

I think this is the conclusion I'm coming to, too much effort for very little reward. Whilst I could get around the geoblock thing I think weighing everything up it's not for me.

You've put in a huge effort and 25k VA points is nothing to be scoffed at. But being realistic I think I would find myself in the frustrated camp quite quickly. 850 points and 1 survey completed might be worth the initial sign up but this doesn't sound like a longterm option.

Appreciate the input from everyone.

More so a great time waster.
While I realise by now that you have decided its not probably for you, but in my case, sometimes, as mentioned above its a time waster.
Once in a while, I get stuck, hanging there, and you can't proceed in the survey, you can't go backwards either, so there is no other option but to press the laptop's "off" button, which everyone who has had a laptop, is warned that it can loose info, or something, you you or I press it.
But if you, or as I was, were stuck, no other choice if there is other work to do, or you have to go and do work elsewhere, or you or someone else needs the laptop to do something else.
Maybe in a way, its a blessing in disguise that they have stopped sending me surveys.
You could try anyway, and see what pans out.
Even if you can get some points, it gives a feeling that you have experienced eRewards.
I really thought it was the bees knees, at some point, and from what I gather, others are still getting surveys, maybe I have been screened out/blocked out either by a person or the systems in place, that I have collected too much points.
There is the chance to make a lot of points, but as mentioned, it also takes a lot of effort and time.
I have had the other surveys too, the where they send you maybe Aud$3 to Aud$5 in cheque form, for doing several surveys, and thus earning points, and then once enough points collected, a cheque comes.
Edit: have a read on www.surveypolice.com or www.trustpilot.com about eRewards reviews too.
