This might start the 2 v 4 wheel arguments, but I want / need a new "international" sized cabin bag and I would like a 2 wheeler, under 2kg and robust enough to be occasionally checked.
Looking around the luggage stores and even online it is all 4 wheels.
Any suggestions ?

A couple of mates swear by the kickstarter success, g-ro, which is quite unique & functional. Not sure about your weight goals though. Shop All Products
Thanks, will take a look at them.
There are several samsonite 55cm "spinners" under 2kg which I used as my weight criteria. If it can be done for 4 wheels, it should be possible for 2.

Samsonite 72 hour. 2 wheel version still available at bagworld
Thnx Tom,
I looked at those. The 2 wheel version is the 50cm "domestic" size. If possible I would like to get the extra capacity of a 55cm bag, which the 72 hour range apparently only offers with 4 wheels.

I was doing a similar search a year ago. Didn't find the Crumpler, but would have preferred a less usual colour anyway.
I ended up with a Roncato Ironik 2-wheeler 1.9kg cm. 40 x 55 x 20/23, bought on eBay. It has the advantage of an expansion zip, in case you return with more than you set out with. But it doesn't have a 'dedicated' lap-top pocket, nor that handy little front-access 'mini-office' of the Crumpler.

Thanks cgichard
This one looks good. Lugging a laptop is in the past for me.
ebay has them but shipping costs become significant.
Unless I can find one more locally, I might keep a look out for one on next trip to Europe.

US version of target have a great one. After lufthansa lost my luggage took me across three continents as checked in luggage. About 60 AUD from memory. Can get it online

Samsonite Smarttop 50cm 2 wheeler currently marked down from $369 to $110 at luggageonline.com.au (free delivery).
Very happy with ours and recently bought 3 more as presents for family.

Thnx vetrade.
I would prefer to find a 55cm model, but agree the samsonite 50cm models look about the best available from local stores

sorry to hear about the lost luggage - touch wood we have been OK for many years.
Found the product online - amazing price.
Heading to US in 6 weeks, so will check it out in store.
Thanks for the tip.

Re the Roncato Ironik: found the receipt for my eBay purchase.
Mine came from Cuoieria i Florence.
Cost was € 55.30 plus € 19.00 for shipping. I thought that very reasonable.
I bought it in a colour called 'beige' but it is more of a light grey, with distinctive green zips and mid-grey lining.
Have only done one long journey with it so far: Georgia + NE Turkey (lots of man-handling in and out of a tour bus), then France via Greece and finally rural Wales and back to Melbourne. Looking a little grubbby now, but mainly because a container of orange juice leaked onto it in the boot of the tour bus. The stickiness scrubbed up better than I expected at the next hotel, but it still looks a little travel-worn.

I'm dreading when my little 2-wheeler dies. I have borrowed hubby's spinner once and I just cannot manage it. I'm not strong enough in the wrist to push it on four wheels as it just WILL NOT go straight. And on two wheels it's a tough pull. Long live the tiny blue Samsonite! I bought it because it was the lightest thing on the market and I was flying coughstar a lot at the time - it's 14 years old now, and still surviving.

Hi Suze2000,
Personally I have a 10 year old samsonite still going strong, and I am looking for a similar one for mrs ayebee.
The spinners have their moment of glory down the aisle when boarding the aircraft, and that's about it. Smooth flat surfaces in airports are also fine, but the rest of the time they are a pain. I really don't understand why they so dominate the market.
