You just have to have the right genes. My fasting cholesterol is between 2.7 and 3.6.HDL>50%.
Shocked once when my non fasting total cholesterol got to 4.7.
Thanks Dr Ron, I really wish I had the right genes - instead I just seem to have weird ones.

Early last year I was shocked to have a CT scan which diagnosed me with having chronic pancreatitis. Which was subsequently confirmed with an internal ultrasound in hospital.

It transpires that I seem to be the only person on the planet with chronic pancreatitis who hasn't been in extreme agony from it - not even mild discomfort.
Cheers,
Renato

You should see the cholesterol busting margarines as its made - especially what they do to turn it yellow, and what the colour is before its yellow. In short the whole thing is an unnatural chemistry experiment.

It’s naturally white!

I think that's true of all margarines.
In parts of the USA they've passed laws banning the colouring of margarine as yellow (pressure from dairy industry?)
In Italy, they have numerous yellow margarine brands - but each tastes worse and more horrible than the other - as it is only made for cooking and not for eating. I did finally find one edible margarine in a Lidl store there last year, which was made outside Italy.
Croatian margarine is quite nice, but unsalted.

Renato

Tomorrow we have two about to have serious operations and they are both in their seventies.
I do hope everything goes ok as each operation will be at least 4 hours and could go longer.

In such situations the longer the operation the better as it means they are trying to fix something as opposed to opening the area and then closing it immediately.

Both of the operations are complicated and one is an artery blockage behind both knees that extends up to 8 centimeters.
The other one is an aggressive cancer removal where the scan shows it hasn’t escaped from the bladder. I do hope that is what the surgeon finds.

This reminds me my blood works are due :(
Last couple have been quite good . I do dread them though as I have had some shockers in the last ten years

Same. Had mine the other day. Excellent job she did, I have several vials done and she was sorted within a minute.

It was my 5 yearly Colonoscopy today. Pleased to say all ok with nothing unusual found and another 5 yearly check scheduled. As usual, I got an excellent for preparation - but still no lollipop or Gold Star.:(

This time the anesthetist was being careful about my sleep apnea so I was only partly under - twilight? I can only remember parts of it and there was no pain, discomfort etc.

Is 5 yearly the recommended spacing from a negative test?

Shouldn't the anaethetist be careful every time?

It is for me
I had some small polyps in my first check, about 14 years ago, they were zapped with no problems. Since then none, or anything else, has been found in 3 tests. The Mayo Clinic sites suggests -

our doctor may recommend that you have another colonoscopy:

  • In 10 years, if you're at average risk of colon cancer — you have no colon cancer risk factors other than age
  • In five years, if you have a history of polyps in previous colonoscopy procedures
  • In one year, if there was residual stool in the colon that prevented complete examination of your colon
I was obviously a bit careless in my wording about the anaethetist. (Perhaps I am still a bit dopey from the visit or perhaps still just a dope) Previously, I have been put right under. This time he was a bit more conservative not just because of the Sleep Apnea but also because I had put on weight since the last check. Another encouragement to lose some fat.

Thankyou, that’s really helpful. I’m in the clear for a while then. Nothing at all on my test.
