Most of my wine related purchases as an undergrad were $3 bottles of McWilliams Royal Reserve.....
Now being older and with my exquisite taste it was Para port usually 1927 vintage and under $2 a bottle.generally at least 1 bottle per week-now when is that liver available?

After having a few champagnes over the weekend I really can't tell the difference, Bollinger still wins on the taste test but it costs the most. If I am paying a similar price I think I will stick to beer, thanks JohnK.

Similarly, if I am going to pay over $100 a bottle, then its going to be scotch. A bottle of scotch will last me a lot longer than a bottle of bubbles! Oh, and I could not drink $100 worth of beer, let along fit it into my fridge!

Is Piper Hiedsiek Special Reserve champagne any good? I was given a bottle on a flight yesterday by a very lovely CSM. Thank you. :D

By the way Lindauer Special Reserve is quite good at a very reasonable price....

Any champagne 'given" to you is always good ;).
Sure. And many CSMs are fantastic. A shame Qantas head office does not display the same sort of care and friendliness....

I think Piper Heidseck is perfectly adequate for an every day champagne. It's better than Deutz (too acidic for my liking) and can be swigged down quite nicely.

It doe not have the rich creaminess of the higher end champagnes but is fine.

I was recently given two bottles of Katnook Estate Cabernet for electing to miss out on a frittata on a 100-minute flight. I thought it more than adequate as compensation, and in 10 years when I unscrew the caps, I will undoubtedly be even happier!
