Hi All,
MrGlider, MrGliderBFF and I are booked on Scoot PER-SIN in about two weeks. We are all on the same Scoot PNR, the usual no refunds, no cancellations deal.

It seems like MrGliderBFF might not be able to travel after all. So I'm wondering what the best option to handle this is. Obviously I'm not expecting a refund or anything, I'm just thinking of the best way to ensure MrGlider and I travel hassle free if MrGliderBFF can't come.

My assumption to handle this is to just ring Scoot and ask them to split MrGliderBFF off our booking onto a new PNR. Then MrGliderBFF can just no-show and we'll be on our merry way. Simples.

Is that the best/correct plan?

No refund, why not just check MrGliderBFF in and have a reaosnable chance of a spare seat in the middle of you? No reason to give Scoot back their seat so they can sell it to someone else.

The no show of one seat shouldn't cancel the other seats on the booking. If it is a return from SIN as well, the no show may cancel for the return sector depending how they have constructed the ticket. Might need to check their contract (or call them) to ask what happens with a no show.

They also have this weird scheme to get a partial voucher refund if they can sell the seat again - or something like that: https://www.flyscoot.com/en/fly-scoot/before-you-fly/change-your-flight

That’s a nifty 3P arrangement I wasn’t aware of. Based on my initial reviews, I dare say that many more airlines may enroll.

I have $800 worth of Scoot flights I can’t take in mid March (due to the CX First Class Ex-Vietnam error fare I took advantage of) and unable/willing to pay the hefty change fee for a trip (SIN-MEL) I have no plans or ideas for in the next 12 months.

I wonder if there are any data points for this type of reverse bidding like we have for the ‘bid for upgrade’ on several airlines. It works the same, but in reverse in a general sense. Gotta look at inventory bucket loads and history for each airline to get a reasonable estimate for what is an appropriate offer.

As a data point for others that may be interested... I purchased two Scootbiz fares at $389 AUD each and lobbed a bid in for $150 SGD each. This was the highest value offer on their scale and apparently extremely unlikely to be accepted. About a week later I received confirmation my offer was accepted. This was one month prior to departure.

I was amazed my offer was accepted given the loadings which I monitored up until departure were still 9+ availability seats in Scoot biz. Maybe they thought they could up sell at more than $150 at the airport? If not, I'm baffled.

Now to use these vouchers within 6 months.

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

As per earlier posts, bidding for a partial refund (in vouchers) of a flight that the OP was unable to take.

I did likewise for $159 fare, I got $71 back after a $100 bid failed.
Dajop, did you originally bid $100 and then lower your bid? What was the timeframe/route/loading?

Yes I bid $100 about 7 days out from departure, but it was rejected 3 days later and then lowered to $71 (highest amount of the suggested bids) and accepted within 18 hrs.
