Do we have a "I'm going to release a great award seat thread" and should we?

Hi everyone I have decided to change my travel plans and go Europe before the US. Got a nice little F seat on BA happy days (well except for the fuel fines!!!)
So I have a QFF QF J seat from Brisbane to JFK next August to cancel. I would love to give advance warning on AFF so someone can have the opportunity to immediately grab it. Is this a good idea, are we contravening any AFF or QF rules by being so blatant about it?

After reading some posts not so long ago about how many people double book award seats, with some saying that they cancel at the very last minute, I thought to myself then as you have now suggested that when doing so, tell others who may be hanging out for an award. Hopefully, it's within the rules.

The way revenue management works, the seat in most cases is not released back into the reward class but goes back into commercial inventory

People in the past have posted when they were cancelling nothing stopping you from doing so but there is no guarantee that it will be reoffend by the airline

Most QF J/F I have released over the last 5 years or so have immediately made their way back into the award pool.
But I have no knowledge about the way revenue management works. Just my experience.

Yep. Which then means a chance to book them on AA.

I've often wondered why there isn't a general (non-program-specific) version of the Lifemiles Successful Bookings thread for people to just post any old award booking they were happy with. But it seems that might contravene some kind of hush hush, only at social gatherings sort of rule.

I gave a heads up to a couple of QF F rewards to Singapore that I had to cancel about 3 weeks out a few years age & got a thank you from someone that nabbed then the same day so, yes, I think it's a good idea.

BUT don;t post specific dates/flights. Just round and rough period. Ask the OPs via Conversion Messages (PMs) if you want specific detail.

Will put 2 Qf F seats on SIN to MEL back into system at 7pm AEST tonight. MH J really was the better option!!!

It is a good idea to not post specific dates/flights on a public forum (much like coupon codes).

I’m not sure I get the reason for cloak and daggers tbh. It’s not like it’s a PNR anymore. It’s not attached to anyone anymore and it’s available to anyone who finds it. By the time it’s posted here, seen, PM sent and PM replied to, it’s likely too late to grab it if it gets released.

These are different. These discount codes aren’t available on the Qantas site for anyone to find. They can’t be snagged by randoms. Award flights can be found by anyone - this just gives people a chance to find them first.
