General Medical issues thread

I don't avoid grapefruit. We used to have a grapefruit tree. Haven't had one in more than 30 years. Grapefruit is not something that takes my fancy.

Doctor has given me phenergan and a stronger steroi_ cream as my eye has puffed right up this morning. Not a good way to start our weekend away....

Back at work - Crohn's already playing up. The palindromic arthritis pain in my hand went through each finger in turn this week and of course, now it's the weekend, the pain is gone. I need to win lotto.

@RooFlyer Hope your hand is sorted now after your inflammation problem.:(

Aw, thanks - but its not there yet. After the (minor) surgery to flush out infection around several hand tendons, got stitches out 8 days later.

Nurse a bit doubtful at what she saw. On watch for a few days; seemed to be OK then a few days later, infection back. Just finished a new course of antibiotics today, and I don't think its done the trick. Waiting to hear back from doc after I left a message (a his suggestion) this morning.

Its been over a month now.

Question, for our docs in particular.

I have an ongoing issue of hand infection, last treated by a course of antibiotics by my regular GP, who I get on with very well.

When he prescribed then, I asked what to do if the infection didn't seem to clear up ( it's been pretty persistent). He said to phone in ( I am an hour away).

So I did - left message at reception at about 9:15, basically saying that I thought the infection was still there, calling for advice as requested.

I didn't get any message back that day, so I called same time the next day ( maybe either the message to the GP didn't reach him, or his message back want of on to me). Again, no message back. In the meantime, I made an appointment to see one of the others in the practice this morning ( my guy needs to be booked a few days out) and I think the infection thing is under control, but I'm really surprised and a bit disappointed that I didn't get any message back.

Not the end of the world, but at the minimum I feel very foolish and I'm wondering what my GP thinks, assuming he got one of my messages.

Sure, he's always busy, but he had phoned me with lab results etc before and I would be really surprised if he just ignored me - not had one of the receptionists to call me back and say 'make an appointment'.

What do you think? I'm not going to ditch him :) .

Insect bite on my face is finally retreating. Swelling is gone and the redness is starting to fade. I've taken myself off the phenergan as I dont feel comfortable taking it for too long with the baby on board.
